Responsibilities

The Field Applications Specialist is responsible for customer application support and method development according to the new analytical needs in the following application areas: Proteomics, MALDI Imaging, Metabolomics, and Lipidomics.


In addition, the professional in question will be responsible for the method implementation and application training at customer´s facility according to specifications from customers and sales representatives.


Analytical techniques to cover include: UHPLC, nano-UHPLC, UHR-QTOF, and MALDI
Territory to cover: Spain and Portugal


Essential duties include:

  • Developing new analytical methods in the Proteomic, Metabolomic and MALDI Imaging areas
  • Analysis of customer samples and results reporting
  • Demonstration of instruments and methods to customers
  • Methods implementation at customer facility
  • Sales & technical internal support
  • Providing advanced user training at Bruker and customer sites
  • Provide answers to potential customer analytical inquiries
  • Customer support (phone, e-mail etc..) for operational, technical and analytical questions
  • Preparing application notes and scientific posters as well as giving scientific speeches
  • Actively interacting with the local scientific community to help promoting Bruker solutions for these areas.

Qualifications

Education and experience:

  • Degree in scientific areas (BS, MSc, Ph.D), such as biochemistry, biology, chemistry, or related field
  • Reasonable experience in laboratory work covering chromatography and mass spectrometry is a must.

Computer skills:

  • Experience with bio-informatic software developed for proteomics, MALDI imaging, and Metabolomics
  • Advanced user of databases, networking, and MS Office 

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Native level of Spanish and fluency in English
  • Other languages, such as Portuguese, German, or French would be an advantage
  • Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written, needed with a wide variety of knowledge levels with customers and in-house staff
  • Organizational abilities and self-motivational skills
  • Positive attitude and strong sense of commitment for teamwork
  • Adaptive to dynamic and changing environments
  • Ability to teach analytical techniques and software operation
  • Ability and willingness to travel
  • Experience with quality standards regulation in laboratories, and core lab facilities would be valuable
  • Driving license
