				Overview:

Position Summary:

The Controls Engineer designs, develops, and completes major engineering projects, with minimal or no supervision, working independently. The engineer will join the Senior Engineer in providing technical assistance and direction to less experienced engineers when needed. 

Responsibilities:

 Principal Responsibilities and Duties:

*  Electrical Design: Responsible for creating electrical schematics, plc program logic, and electrical enclosure

       designs within the constraints determined by the given project, time, cost, performance.

*  Project Supervision: At times, oversees the completion of an electrical design for a project with the seniors or 

       Engineering manager's approval. These responsibilities include the following:

*  Estimating engineering hours required for a project.
*  Electrical enclosure design and detail.
*  Electrical schematic design.
*  PLC programming.
*  Project documentation, including bill of materials.
*  Project checking.
*  Manufacturing assembly support.

*  Checking / Verification: At times may assist with inspecting and approving team work that is completed for a 

   given project, also responsible for ensuring that any of his or her own work is inspected and approved by a 

   qualified engineer or engineering manager.

*  Documentation: Responsible for the proper documentation of his or her work, including ECR's, machine manuals,

   check lists, and others.

*  Scheduling & Reports: Responsible for reporting the status of his or her project in accordance with the engineering 

   production schedule at each weekly meeting. If a problem occurs that requires immediate attention, it is the

   engineer's responsibility to report to the department manager at that time.

*  Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

Skills and Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each principal duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, experience, skill, and ability required:

*  Bachelor's degree or equivalent, plus 6 to 10 years of related experience.
*  Sound understanding of electrical design, schematics, and electrical codes in regard to machine tool design.
*  Sound computer skills, Cad experience required for this position.
*  Experience with machine tool equipment, electrical design.
*  PLC programming experience. Omron, Indusoft experience highly desirable.
*  Software knowledge; Excel, Solidworks, and Microsoft Windows.
*  Flexible, able to react to change.
*  Sound communication skills, verbal, written and the ability to listen effectively. 
*  Good organization skills.

*  The ability to know when to seek guidance.

Physical Demands: 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the principal duties of this position:

*  The ability to occasionally lift 50 lbs to perform the functions of this position.
