Looking for a dynamic team player with experience working with volunteers and organizing events large and small to fulfill the role of Communications/Events Coordinator position at Child Start. Must be willing to participate in evening and weekend fund-raising and public relations activities. Work schedule is typically a standard workweek Monday through Friday; however, longer hours including evening and weekends will be necessary during peak event times. 

Hours: Negotiable scheduled between 20 and 30 hours/week - DOE

Compensation: $754 - $1,131/biweekly

*  Able to lift 50lbs - sorry but those ply board cutouts are heavy
* Long hours on your feet - all in a good day's work, but as every event professional knows, first in and last out during event times. 
* Must be able to work flexible schedule work hours, shifts or days worked will vary due to event schedules and adapt to short notice of schedule changes. 

Supervise the set-up, running, and break down of the event, identifying and resolving problems.  Meet with clients to plan event and establish budget.  Select event vendors and staff, direct and supervise their work.  Plan and manage the logistics of an event., including venue, guests, programs, catering, and marketing.  Track event expenses and review accuracy of invoices. 


* Help Plan and take a leading role in ongoing communications and donor/volunteer engagement activities.
* Identify audiences Child Start should reach out to.
* Create and implement an annual plan for communications with Child Start's potential audiences (type and frequency of contacts, what communications tools to use, what to communicate about, how to evaluate effectiveness at reaching audiences).
* Identify and work with partners to develop activities to engage Child Start audiences.
* Help create content for Child Start website and social media to increase awareness in general and events awareness in particular.
* If Child Start will work with partners in marketing, advertising, or media, serve as contact person for those partners and take the lead in evaluating the usefulness of those partnerships and/or how to improve.
* Take the lead on publicity and logistics for Child Start's major events, Polar Express and children's art display. 
* Work with designers and/or printers to develop materials for major events (save-the-date cards, invitations, programs, etc.).
* Work with Executive Assistant to get mailing lists to printer timely.
* Take the lead in scheduling activities/smaller events/displays designed to increase Child Start's visibility and name recognition in the community (previous examples include Brews & Books; Food, Fun & Fiction; Aspire the Empire car show).
* Represent Child Start at community events where our presence could increase awareness or enrollment (information fairs, Chamber mixers, etc.).



* Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university or equivalent.
* Requires at least two to five years related experience (professional or volunteer) organizing large and small events and working with volunteers. 
* Strong writing/ communication skills. 
* Experience with social media and traditional media. 
* Exposure to working with external marketing professionals. 
* The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects or materials up to 50 lbs.

Additional Qualifications: 

* Good listener, able to sense when new audiences/individuals are tuning in and when they are resisting/turning off. 
* Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously with accuracy.
* Ability to work independently and as a team. 
* Strong organizational skills and the ability to adapt quickly. Critical attention to detail. 
* Ability to travel in town and surrounding areas with overnight stay on occasion.
