    The Logistics Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the planning and execution of freight in the Cold Share Consolidation program. The Logistics Supervisor works directly with the Area Logistics Manager to ensure accuracy and customer satisfaction within the region. The Logistics Supervisor will work with the warehouse to help solve problems and discover efficient avenues to achieve on time loading. The Logistics Supervisor is responsible for the day to day operations of the Logistics department. This position is accountable for clear, timely communication and paperwork. The Logistics Supervisor must be willing to work long and late hours that may extend into the weekend and/or Holidays.

    • Supervise a team of Coordinators and Associates
    • Interview, select, and train potential employees
    • Review and approve Logistics Departments payroll and day to day tasks
    • Plan, organize and manage the work of subordinate staff to ensure that the work is accomplished in a manner consistent with organizational requirements.
    • Manage fleet and allocate budget if applicable
    • Direct activities related to dispatching, routing, and tracking transportation vehicles (if applicable in region)
    • Appraise work performance and productivity of direct reports
    • Implement schedule and policy changes within the department
    • Follow all customer requirements.
    • Assist supervision/management as needed.
    • Follow company policies, guidelines and work instructions.
    • Maintain professional relationship with the carriers and customers.
      • Coordinates delivery and pickup with the customer and warehouse
      • Coordinates multiple shipping sites in various states
      • Audits accuracy of loads provided by Logistics Coordinators
    • Follow up on problems such as late orders, broken down trucks, etc.
    • Answer requests for proposals and orders from customers
    • Receive, review and confirm orders for transportation
    • Find optimal solutions for transport and communicate solutions to the clients
    • Properly plan for the supply and cost-effective solutions and legal enforcement
    • Establish relationships with clients in pursuit of sustainable business relationships
    • Initiate and maintain claim support
    • Supervise the negotiation of rates with outside carriers
    • Supervision of the tracking and tracing of shipments with contracted carriers.
    • Supervise workers assigning tariff classifications and preparing billing.
    • Ability to present and run efficient meetings
    • Maintain a professional manner in appearance and communications at all times.
    • Participate in staff and/or customer meetings if required.
    • Must be able to fill out bills of lading and be familiar with various forms that are used and required by the major freight carriers.
    • Coordinate with warehouse schedulers to ensure timely shipping throughout the region
    • Direct investigations to verify and resolve customer or shipper complaints.
    • Monitor operations to ensure that staff members comply with administrative policies and procedures, safety rules and government regulations.
    • Conduct investigations in cooperation with government agencies to determine causes of transportation accidents and to improve safety procedures.


    Safety, Housekeeping, Security

    • Follow posted security procedures at all times while in the building.
    • Maintain a clean, neat and orderly work/lunch room area.
    • Required to attend Ammonia Training Class yearly.


    Responsibility and Authority

    • Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformities relating to product, process, and quality systems.
    • Identify and record any issues relating to product, processes and/or quality.
    • Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through appropriate channels.
    • Verify the implementation of solutions.

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: The knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below are representative of the qualifications required to successfully perform each essential duty. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties.

    Education:                             4 Year College Degree preferred

    Experience:                           1 to 2 years in a Transportation supervisory role preferred.

                                                    3 to 5 years general Transportation experience preferred

    -Experience with a Transportation Management System (TMS), AS400, SAP, Word, Excel and PowerPoint preferred.

    -Experience with warehouse paperwork preferred.
