Overview: Avalara is looking for an experienced Workday subject matter expert to oversee, improve, design, and scale Workday Benefits and Absence areas. We ask that you have a passion to enhance product quality and to deliver a seamless experience in Workday through mastery on functional configuration and team player skills. You will be part of our People Technology team and work with other internal business partners, and company management in the development and maintenance of Workday. People Technology is a diverse team made up of subject matter experts that own multiple enterprise platforms and brings automation and scale to our People & Culture, Finance and IT programs. You will report to the Senior Manager, People Technology. Location: Brazil-Remote Responsibilities: Must have 5+ years of experience with Workday * Lead the design, configuration, and deployment of Workday Benefits modules. * Configure benefit plans, eligibility rules, enrollment events, and dependent coverages in Workday. * Support open enrollment cycles, life event changes, and annual benefits updates. * Collaborate with HR, Payroll, and Benefits teams to gather requirements and translate them into Workday solutions. * Conduct gap analysis and propose system enhancements to improve efficiency. * Provide ongoing production support and troubleshooting for benefits-related issues and track all the requests on JSM with proper documentation. * Ensure benefits configurations comply with legal, tax, and regulatory requirements. * Monitor and maintain accurate employee benefits data within Workday. * Support audits, reporting, and integrations with third-party benefits providers. * Develop test plans, execute test scenarios, and document results for system updates and enhancements. * Train HR staff, managers, and employees on benefits processes within Workday. * Create user documentation and process guides. * Validate new Benefits features delivered in Workday releases and provide recommendations and implementation. Qualifications: * 5+ years of relevant professional experience supporting/implementing Workday Benefits and Absence areas. * Understanding of the dependencies and downstream impacts across Workday modules and data feeds to other internal and external applications. * Hands-on configuration experience of Workday Core HR, Benefits, Absence, Security and Business Processes. * Create, deploy, and maintain Workday custom reports and dashboards for technology team. * Ability to bring simplicity and speed to our programs. * Exposure to AI/automation in HR systems, including intelligent workflows, analytics, or integrations with AI-driven tools, is preferred Certifications: * Workday Pro Certifications. * Expertise with Benefits and Time tracking
