Overview:
The Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator is the head of a team that operates sewage treatment, sludge processing, and disposal equipment in wastewater (sewage) treatment plant to control flow and processing of sewage. Monitors control panels and adjusts valves and gates manually or by remote control to regulate flow of sewage. Guides and assists Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators in their daily duties.
Responsibilities:

* The Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator observes variations in operating conditions and interprets meter and gauge readings and tests results to determine load requirements.
* Ensures employees start and stop pumps, engines, and generators to control flow of water or raw sewage through filtering, settling, aeration, and sludge digestion processes, maintains log of operations and records meter and gas readings, performs routine operations and maintenance, and may collect wastewater, effluent, influent and sewage samples.
* Maintains log of operations and records meter and gauge readings.
* Conducts bacteriological sampling and analysis after repair to verify the water system has not been contaminated.
* Requires a working knowledge of operating systems and ability to adjust controls to ensure operating efficiencies.
* Assists in training Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators on operations, preventive maintenance, and repairs of the wastewater treatment systems/units.
* Guides Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators through their daily duties.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
* Minimum Qualifications
* Education:
* High school diploma or equivalent.
* Certifications:
* Certified on water systems management, including backflow prevention, and trained and qualified to inspect and test backflow prevention devices.
* Experience:
* Minimum of one (1) year leadership experience.
* Minimum of three (3) years of Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator experience.
* Other Requirements:
* Possess a valid driver's license from country of origin.
* Skills and Technology Used:
* Must be able to read, write and speak English.
* Able and willing to perform other duties as needed, as skills and program allow.
