Responsibilities: Operates sewage treatment, sludge processing, and disposal equipment in wastewater (sewage) treatment plant to control flow and processing of sewage. Work Model: Onsite Qualifications: Essential Duties & Job Functions: * Monitors control panels and adjusts valves and gates manually or by remote control to regulate flow of sewage. * Observes variations in operating conditions and interprets meter and gauge readings, and test results to determine load requirements. * Starts and stops pumps, engines and generators to control flow of raw sewage through filtering, settling, aeration, and sludge digestion processes. * Maintains logs of operations and records meter and gas readings. * Gives direction to the Water/Wastewater Operator Assistant in performing routine operations and maintenance. * May collect sewage samples using dipper or bottle; and, conduct laboratory tests using equipment such as a colorometer. * May be required to respond to emergency call-outs as requested by management. * Required to maintain a clean work area and work environment.
