Hospice Volunteer Coordinator

UnityPoint at Home

Part-time, 20 hours per week

Monday - Friday, between 8am-4:30pm

Responsibilities:

Plan, implement, and maintain a volunteer program to meet the needs of families/caregivers, as well as regulatory requirements for the Medicare Conditions of Participation. recruit, retain, and supervise volunteers involved in the hospice volunteer program. 

Provide information to individuals and community groups about hospice volunteer services.

Supporting hospice community education efforts through use of volunteers for presentation or other activities in the community

Prepares monthly and annual service reports.

Acts as liaison between hospice staff and volunteers.

Participates in quality assurance and performance improvement activities as assigned.

Recruitment, screening and retaining volunteers to meet the needs of patients/ families and the hospice program

Educate volunteers in accordance with hospice regulatory requirements and education standars.Develop and maintain the orientation and training of volunteers.

Advocating for the utilization and integration of volunteers into the interdisciplinary team and liaise between team members and volunteers as needed to ensure patient and family needs are met

Plan and implement volunteer support meetings and recognition.

Promoting retention of volunteers through recognition, education and support

Providing on-going supervision and competency evaluation of volunteers

Qualifications:

* Associates degree in business or related field or equivalent work experience.
* Minimum of two years' experience working with patients/families/caregivers through death and dying issues
* Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
* Valid Mandatory Reporter course completion by state(s) requirement
* Mature individual supportive of the Hospice concept.
* Previous volunteer experience.
* Strong interpersonal skills.
* Ability to take initiative and exercise independent judgment, decision making and problem solving expertise.
* Ability to work as a collaborative team member.
* Ability to understand and apply guidelines, policies and procedures.
