				Overview:

GDC IT Solutions is currently seeking a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) Engineer to work in a hybrid capacity, with 3 days on-site per week at the Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO) in Washington, D.C. This position requires candidates to reside within commuting distance of the DMV region and offers the opportunity to architect and support enterprise-level virtual desktop and cloud infrastructure for a high-profile public sector organization.

Responsibilities:

* Architect, design, and support Azure-based virtual desktop infrastructure and associated managed services.

* Maintain and administer Azure Active Directory and authentication services.

* Deploy and manage Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD) environments in Azure.

* Design and implement automation using Azure ARM templates, PowerShell, and Desired State Configuration.

* Manage patching and update processes via Azure Update Management and SCCM/Kaseya.

* Package and deploy applications using App-V and other tools; manage application migration efforts.

* Monitor, analyze, and optimize performance using Azure Monitoring, OMS, and ASR (Azure Site Recovery).

* Configure and manage virtual networks, load balancers, DNS, NSGs, and firewalls in cloud environments.

* Ensure compliance with DISA STIGs and other security protocols; maintain hardened systems.

* Support development of cybersecurity analytics and capabilities for strategic and operational decision-making.

* Evaluate commercial and government technology offerings (COTS/GOTS) and provide architectural recommendations.

* Lead network architecture planning for LAN/WAN/VM infrastructures; define business and technical requirements.

* Direct and mentor network analysts and technicians; conduct performance reviews and ensure accountability.

* Communicate regularly with executive stakeholders to align infrastructure initiatives with organizational priorities.

* Conduct feasibility studies for proposed upgrades and infrastructure improvements.

Qualifications:

* 10+ years' experience designing, managing, and delivering enterprise network and VDI architectures.

* Proven experience designing enterprise-wide LANs, WANs, WLANs, VPNs, VMs, and virtual networks.

* Advanced knowledge of Azure infrastructure and services (Azure AD, App Services, SQL, Storage).

* Proficiency with Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD) in Azure environments.

* Hands-on experience with automation tools and scripting (e.g., PowerShell, ARM templates).

* Familiarity with patch management tools (SCCM, Kaseya).

* Strong knowledge of IT security principles and compliance frameworks (e.g., DISA STIGs).

* Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage infrastructure projects.

* Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
