Overview:
The Vice President, Strategic & Business Planning serves as a senior enterprise leader responsible for driving the development and alignment of the health system's strategic priorities. This role leads enterprise strategic planning for the Internal Consulting Group, ensuring the organization advances its clinical, operational, and financial performance through data-driven insights and disciplined execution.
This leader brings deep experience in strategic planning for hospitals and health systems and demonstrates a proven ability to design and lead large-scale, enterprise-wide strategic planning efforts. As a trusted advisor to executive and clinical leadership, the Vice President shapes system-wide strategy and ensures effective translation of strategic vision into measurable outcomes across a complex, matrixed healthcare environment.

Essential Functions
Key Responsibilities:
Enterprise Strategy & Planning Leadership
* Lead the development, refinement, and execution of the health system's enterprise, hospital and institute-level strategic plans.
* Design and drive large-scale strategic planning efforts across the organization, ensuring alignment from system to facility level.
* Partner with executive leadership to define strategic priorities, growth strategies, and investment decisions.
* Incorporate market insights, competitive intelligence, and industry trends into strategic planning processes.
Internal Consulting & Advisory Leadership
* Be a leader in the Internal Consulting Group, leading a team of consultants and program managers that deliver a portfolio of high-impact strategic, operational, and clinical transformation engagements.
* Leverage external consulting experience and methodologies to elevate the rigor, structure, and impact of internal engagements.
* Serve as a senior advisor to executives, shaping problem statements, engagement scope, and solution approaches.
* Ensure delivery of rigorous, data-driven insights that drive measurable enterprise value.
Executive Partnership & Influence
* Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior leaders across clinical, operational, and administrative functions.
* Facilitate executive-level strategic planning sessions, retreats, and governance forums.
* Translate complex analyses into clear, actionable recommendations for executive decision-making.
* Provide executive oversight of change management strategies, ensuring effective adoption and sustainability of initiatives.
* Partner with operational leaders to translate strategy into execution, processes, and governance.
Team Leadership & Capability Building
* Lead, develop, and scale a high-performing team of consulting and strategy professionals.
* Foster a culture of analytical rigor, structured problem-solving, and stakeholder partnership.
* Oversee talent strategy, including recruiting, development, and succession planning.
Practice Development & Continuous Improvement
* Advance consulting methodologies, frameworks, and analytical capabilities across the enterprise.
* Integrate best practices from prior experience and leading consulting firms into internal strategy and execution models.
* Drive knowledge-sharing and continuous evolution of the internal consulting and strategy functions.

Qualifications:
* Education:
* Bachelor's Degree, required in Business, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Engineering, Analytics, or related fields.
* Graduate Degree or requisite years of experience, preferred.
* Experience: 15 + years Strategy, consulting, healthcare operations, or performance improvement, including leadership of large-scale strategic planning initiatives, required.
* Additional Skills (required):
* Demonstrated experience leading hospital and health system strategic planning efforts.
* Proven ability to drive and execute large, complex, enterprise-wide strategic initiatives.
* Strong track record of influencing senior executives and leading cross-functional transformation.
* Demonstrated success building and leading high-performing teams.

* Additional Skills/Requirements (preferred):
* Prior experience with a leading external strategy consulting firm and/or an internal consulting group at a large healthcare organization.
* Experience in hospital operations, clinical transformation, or care delivery innovation.
