				Overview:

The staff vascular sonographer's primary responsibilities are the performance of high quality vascular ultrasound examinations primarily in outpatient environments according to physician's orders, utilizing complex ultrasound equipment. Confidently identify, evaluate and document the presence or absence of vascular pathology adhering to the standards established by the Society of Vascular Ultrasound. Assist the vascular surgeon in the performance of venous ablations in the OR, as well as other special procedures. Participate in on going quality assurance and quality improvement processes in addition to required education within the Vascular Lab. Adheres to departmental policies and philosophies to provide customers with the highest quality service. Reports to the labs Technical Director/ Supervisor.

Responsibilities:

* Ability to perform independently high quality diagnostic vascular ultrasound examinations following Confluence Health's Vascular department policies and procedures, adhering to the current standards established by Society of Vascular Ultrasound.

* Prepare a preliminary sonographer structured report including all pertinent data for the reading vascular surgeon in a timely and efficient manner.

* Recognize and alert the attending reading physician of dangerous or critical findings which need immediate attention.

* Assist the physician in the performance of venous ablation procedures and other special procedures.

* Demonstrates excellent communication skills with physicians, colleagues and support staff in accordance with the Confluence Health standards to promote best quality patient care.

* Participates in the training and orientation of vascular sonographer students completing their clinical internship.

* Maintains required continuing medical education credits for professional credential and IAC specific requirements.

* Attends required departmental meetings, in-services, peer review and case presentations Participates and attends required quarterly quality improvement meetings and processes to satisfy the mandatory requirements of our IAC designation.

* Maintains Professional certification in vascular ultrasound through ARDMS and or CCI.

* Knowledge and proficiency with current hospital information systems (EPIC), Vascular structural reporting and PACs archive/ retrieval. Basic computer knowledge required.

* Required to maintain active Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.

* Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required:

* Satisfactory completion of a formal vascular technology ultrasound training program and one-year full time clinical experience in a dedicated vascular laboratory. Active status RVT. Or graduate from a diagnostic ultrasound training program (2-4 years) with at least 1-year additional full-time clinical experience in a dedicated vascular lab and active status RVT. Or approximately 2 years of college with emphasis on the biological sciences with minimum of 5 years full time experience in a dedicated vascular laboratory and active status RVT.
* Valid state driver's license and reliable vehicle transportation.

Desired:

* A working knowledge of computers, accurate keyboarding skills, and email communication.
