Responsibilities:
Working on the roadway team at GFT offers the opportunity to engage in transformative projects that enhance transportation infrastructure and improve community connectivity. * Collaborate directly with utility owners to establish and manage relocation contracts, schedules, and agreements.
* Evaluate existing utility data and identify potential project conflicts.
* Ensure compliance with client design criteria through thorough utility plan reviews.
* Develop contractual strategies to integrate utility relocations into broader construction efforts.
* Act as a key liaison to resolve utility-related challenges that could affect cost and timelines.
* Track submissions, manage correspondence, and maintain meticulous documentation through project databases.
* Visit project sites to confirm existing utility conditions and validate field data.
Qualifications:
What You Will Bring
* A Bachelor's Degree or College Diploma in Civil Engineering, with a focus on municipal services and/or roadway design-or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
* A minimum of 2 years of experience in utility coordination, transportation, or related civil infrastructure projects.
* Strong working knowledge of reading and interpreting construction drawings, relocation schematics, and engineering contracts.
* Familiarity with securing and managing reimbursable utility agreements and cost estimates.
* Excellent organizational skills to monitor utility plan markups, schedules, and approvals.
* Effective communication skills for collaborating with internal teams and external utility owners.
* A proactive mindset for identifying utility impacts and offering strategic resolutions.
* Willingness to travel to project sites to assess utility locations and stakeholder needs.
What We Prefer You Bring
* Previous experience supporting large-scale transportation or infrastructure projects in Ontario.
* Working knowledge of the legal and procedural aspects of utility relocation in public right-of-way contexts.
* Understanding of local regulatory bodies and their expectations for utility relocation approvals.
* Familiarity with industry software used for project tracking, design review, or utility mapping.
