Overview: Unit Secretary - Emergency Department UnityPoint Health QC Trinity - Rock Island IL Full Time Benefits 1.0 FTE Monday - Friday; 5:00pm - 1:30am The Unit Secretary performs clerical duties on the nursing units and assists in coordinating the needs of the heath care team members. Responsibilities: Department Support * Maintain an organized unit; perform light housekeeping functions to maintain a clean, neat and orderly work area, adhering to Universal/Standard precautions. * Promotes, monitors, and maintains a safe clean environment * Consistently know the coming and going of patients and assisting with the electronic push/pull of patients in the computer system * Be available at the nurse's station to answer telephone calls and direct the phone calls as necessary and always consistently practice excellent telephone etiquette. * Effectively communicate needs of the department by acknowledging patients, visitors, and healthcare providers upon arrival to the unit * Ensures stationary supplies are ordered for the unit and available Basic UPH Performance Criteria * Demonstrate The UnityPoint Health Values and Standards of Behaviors as well as adheres to policies and procedures and safety guidelines. * Demonstrates ability to meet business needs of department with regular, reliable attendance. * Employee maintains current licenses and or certifications required. * Practice and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, JCAHO, OSHA, and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare. * Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year. * Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste, and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff. Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance. Qualifications: Training or equivalent experience in general clerical functions. Previous medical/clerical experience preferred. CPR certification required. *Specific offers are determined by various factors, such as experience, skills, internal equity, and other business needs.
