Overview: Responsible for assisting the health care team with the clerical duties of the behavioral health unit. Patients served are patients of all ages in need of the secure setting of a locked behavioral health unit. St. Luke's C.A.R.E. delivery model (Continuity, Accountability, Relationship-based, Evidence-based) reflects a commitment to compassionate, competent care delivered by the interdisciplinary team. Care is provided through a therapeutic relationship with the patient and family. A spirit of inquiry is encouraged and supported. Small tests of change and more formal research efforts are used when the evidence is not clear. Evidence-driven protocols are utilized to assure reliable and consistent care. Responsibilities: Clinical Excellence * Assist with safety procedures on the units-patient rounds, searches of patients and belongings * Understands and complies with unit safety protocols per division guidelines * Maintains competence in performing procedures involved with the management of violent or potentially violent patients. * Complies with policies for restraint and seclusion per service guidelines. * Is knowledgeable regrading managed care implications for their job-obtaining release of information from patients, question precertification completion when necessary. * Follow unit protocol to ensure patient confidentiality when answering phone/greeting visitors. * Assists with designated unit data collection as requested. Qualifications: * Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English. * High school graduate or GED equivalent * Multicultural sensitivity. * Microsoft Office - basic computer skills. * Customer/patient focused. * Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.
