Responsibilities:
How you'll make an impact in this role
*
* Installs, inspects, maintains, and repairs HVAC, refrigeration, ventilation, and related systems, including performing preventive maintenance and assisting with boiler/chiller operations.
* Evaluates system performance, identifies repair needs, and recommends preventive measures by inspecting HVAC components and monitoring equipment.
* Supports energy management systems, including assisting with installation, programming, and maintenance.
* Responds to emergencies and power outages, ensuring safe system operation and adherence to safety protocols, including use of PPE.
* Communicates work status and technical information effectively, interprets complex data, and applies knowledge of HVAC codes, safety standards, and air quality monitoring.
* Maintains tools, equipment, and materials; participates in training, emergency response teams (e.g., Fire Brigade/Disaster Team), and completes special projects and other assigned duties.
Qualifications:
Education:
* High School Diploma or GED required. Preferred completion of advanced course work from an accredited refrigeration vocational school accepted by Genesys Health System within one year of date of hire-required.
License/Certification:
* Drivers License obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date-required.
* Certified Maintenance Professional specializing in EPA Refrigerant Handling obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date-required.
Experience:
* Requires a minimum of two (2) years verifiable HVAC/R service and repair- required.
* Considerable experience with knowledge of tools, materials, methods and practices of plumbing and pipe fitting, use of multi-meter in minor electrical diagnosis and repair; knowledge of occupational hazards and safety procedures of maintenance operations; shaft alignment, drive belt maintenance bearing; lay out sheet metal, design and manufacture sheet metal fittings and install duct work and fittings; reading service and operators manuals; set up, adjust, repair, maintaining equipment-required.
* Special consideration given to candidates with two years of experience within engineering field at the commercial level (Healthcare preferred)-required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* Must be able to use smartphone/computer to create work requests, order supplies and close corrective and preventive work orders.
* Ability to read, write and speak the English language.
* Must have normal vision or correctable vision.
* Must be able to differentiate primary colors.
* Must have normal finger dexterity.
* Must have the ability to work without the use of mechanical assisting devices.
* Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 80 pounds without the use of mechanical assisting devices.
* Must be able to climb and work from ladders.
* Must have normal hearing or correctable hearing to recognize various alarms in use in the institution, including but not limited to fire, steam pressure, medical gas and medical air alarms.
* Must have excellent interpersonal skills: written, oral and telephone.
* Must be able to manipulate tools, instruments, equipment and materials commonly used in the Maintenance trades.
* Must pass a Respirator Fit Test.
