				Overview:

Presbyterian is seeking an Ultrasound Technologist to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this role, you will ensure the successful transmission of images to PACS while scheduling ultrasound cases to align with other patient exams. Educating patients about procedures, answering their questions, and documenting vital information such as blood pressure readings and post-procedure follow-ups will be key aspects of your responsibilities. You'll manage records using Radiology Information Systems and other hospital tools as needed.

This position involves assisting physicians with procedures like needle biopsies, amniocentesis, and renal biopsies by scanning patients, marking body areas, determining angles for punctures, and maintaining sterile techniques. You will adhere to radiology and ultrasound policies, ensuring compliance with quality assurance, safety, and infection control standards. Additionally, you'll position and transfer patients, maintain department equipment, and order or stock supplies as needed.

Your role will include attending staff meetings, participating in in-services and workshops for professional development, and taking calls for ultrasound procedures. You will also oversee and evaluate student ultrasound technologists, contributing to the growth of the next generation of healthcare professionals.

This position is eligible for the Northern New Mexico differential of $4.00 per hour. (This differential may be adjusted or discontinued based on business requirements.)

Responsibilities:

* Prepare exam room and ultrasound equipment in accordance with infection control, sterilization, and patient safety protocols.

* Ensure patient safety during sonographic examinations.

* Review patient medical history and relevant clinical information.

* Confirm sonography examination orders are complete and meet medical necessity standards.

* Evaluate contraindications, insufficient preparation, or patient intolerance to procedures.

* Communicate with patients in a manner appropriate to their level of understanding.

* Use proper positioning tools, equipment adjustments, and ergonomic techniques to ensure patient comfort and prevent injury.

* Conduct clinical assessments and perform diagnostic sonography exams per provider orders and facility protocols.

* Apply ethical judgment and critical thinking to safely perform procedures.

* Use independent judgment to capture accurate anatomical, pathological, and clinical conditions.

* Refer diagnostic, treatment, or prognosis questions to appropriate healthcare professionals unless authorized by facility policy.

* Acquire additional imaging when necessary to support optimal diagnostic outcomes.

* Identify and document limitations of the sonography examination.

* Review images, synthesize results, and prepare preliminary findings.

* Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA and facility policies.

* Adhere to professional and ethical standards.

* Provide patient services consistent with the sonographer's Scope of Practice and Clinical Standards.

* Assist with daily facility operations as needed.

* Conduct Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement measures.

* Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

* Two years radiology ultrasound specific college coursework
* Associates Degree or Diploma Preferred
* RDMS Certification Required, one additional modality within two years of hire.
Current BLS required
* High School Diploma or GED
