Overview: The Transporter safely moves patients to and from hospital areas and the Imaging Services Department in a wheelchair or on a stretcher cart for various imaging examinations and procedures while providing compassionate and attentive patient care. Responsibilities: Personal * Safely transports patients to and from hospital areas and departments utilizing proper equipment (wheelchair or cart) appropriate to the patient's condition and lifting techniques. * Promptly transports patient to destination and notifies patient arrival to designated individual. * Perform patient transfers with approved transfer mobility equipment when appropriate. * Successfully completes hospital-wide orientation, annual hospital competencies and department/unit specific competencies. * For the safety of our patients and co-workers, St. Luke's Hospital requires seasonal and job-related vaccinations. This is reviewed regularly during periodic health assessments. * Patient transporters may transport contrast media to inpatients, ED patients 6000-44 * Performs other duties as assigned Team * Maintains cleanliness of equipment and workspace and reports equipment malfunctions in a timely manner. * Understand requirements for student supervision as outlined in the Student Supervision policy. * Support the School of Radiology educational process. * Maintain current knowledge of School of Radiology policies, procedures, and student progress. * Communicate with School of Radiology faculty on student-related progress and issues. Qualifications: * Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain within three (3) months from date of hire. * Must complete on the job training. * Must possess excellent communication skills. * Must be able to understand written, verbal, and other sensory stimuli. * Must have the ability to analyze written and spoken English. * Must be able to cope effectively with stressful situations and time constraints. * Must be able to interpret scientific data in a logical and coherent manner. * Must be able to independently solve problems and follow detailed written and verbal instruction. * Must be able to work well with all customers and co-workers. * Must demonstrate a cooperative, courteous, and dependable working performance. * Must possess high integrity and always maintain confidentiality.
