Responsibilities:

The incumbent is responsible for transporting patients between departments within the medical center, discharge to home and other operational duties as assigned. Demonstrates competency in safe and efficient transportation for neonate, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. May have access to or be required to distribute drugs, needles or syringes from storage locations, (such as large stock supplies, automated dispensing units and other carts) to/within patient care areas or treatment carts as defined by hospital policy/procedure.

As our Patient Transporter, you will provide essential assistance and transportation for patients and related items across our campus, ensuring a highly customer-sensitive and seamless experience. Every day you will promptly and safely transport inpatients and outpatients to and from various hospital areas. You will meticulously confirm patient identification, greet and assist in transferring patients, and make conscious observations of patient condition during transport, reporting any issues to appropriate personnel. You will also maintain a clean and organized work area and report any malfunctioning equipment. To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate a strong commitment to patient safety and exceptional customer service for all individuals within our facility. You will be attentive, observant, and capable of performing duties efficiently while upholding the highest standards of care and professionalism.

Qualifications:

* Six (6) months related experience that will support necessary skills and ability of job description.
* Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association.
* Ability to lift patients onto gurneys and to assist them into and out of a wheelchair.
* Read and comprehend instructions written in English.
* Use courtesy and tact when dealing with patients, visitors, and hospital staff.
* Calm and reassure distressed patients.
* Perform basic clerical functions; maintain patient confidentiality.
* Follow established protocols.
* Work effectively under multiple priorities and adjust priorities, as circumstances require; maintain a high degree of accuracy regarding all details.
* Knowledge of alphabetic and numeric filing system, knowledge of proper body mechanics and patient safety.

Preferred:

* Healthcare field experience.
