Job Summary: The machinist is responsible for machining and measuring both standard and custom parts using manual lathes, mills, and surface grinders. This includes interpreting technical drawings, setting up equipment, and ensuring parts meet precise specifications using appropriate measuring tools-all while maintaining safe and efficient work practices. The Details: Position Type: Full-Time, Year-Round Pay: $28.75 Schedule:4 day 10 hour work week ( Monday - Thursday) ( Off Friday, Saturday, Sunday). Responsibilities: * Fully understand and support Xanterra's Mission Statement, Cultural Pillars, Community Commitment, and Core Values. * Adds, subtracts, multiplies, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. * Reads and interprets blueprints, working drawings, and sketches, performing accurate math calculations and layout. This position requires common sense. * Operates machinery and tools safely, using required safety equipment and PPE, including various forms of respirators and eye protection. (Manual lathes, mills, and surface grinders) * Cleans equipment and work area using proper materials, and follows environmental policy and procedure in regard to proper disposal of hazardous waste materials and SDS Sheets. * Follows instructions, responds to management direction, takes responsibility for own actions, and keeps commitments. * Grinds and forms tools. * Works productively under minimal supervision. * Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: * Minimum 5 yrs experience as proto-type machinist and proficiency with common tools and equipment and machinery used (manual lathes, mills, and surface grinders). * Possess a valid Arizona Driver's License and comply with Xanterra/GCR Vehicle Policy. Preferred Qualifications: * Engineering or R & D Machinist certificate or degree from an accredited trade school or university is preferred. Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is: * Constantly listening, hearing, seeing, and speaking. * Frequently standing, walking, handling, reaching outward, reaching above shoulder, bending/stooping lifting/carrying up to 25lbs, and pushing/pulling up to 25lbs. * Occasionally sitting, climbing, crawling, squatting/kneeling, lifting/carrying up to 50lbs, and pushing/pulling up to 100lbs. * Will be required to stand and walk for long periods of time on cement floors and to occasionally walk on uneven surfaces and onboard moving equipment.
