Overview:
Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a self-motivated and qualified Traffic Operator to join our growing Highways & Traffic Engineering team in Ewing Township, New Jersey!
The selected candidate will have the unique opportunity to serve as a traffic operator at an on-site management center in Ewing Township, with the ability to monitor roadway corridors via controlled traffic signal systems and various other intelligent transportation system technologies. Responsibilities:
* Actively monitor, detect, document, and regularly disseminate information about the health of adaptive signal corridors to help effectively maintain the transportation system through a host of events, both planned and unplanned, to internal and external stakeholders.
* Interface with ITS devices such as Closed-Circuit TV (CCTV) cameras and traffic signal systems.
* Identify and report potential road hazards, signal timing, construction activities, and/or traffic patterns that impede optimal traffic flow.
* Gather information from multiple sources, dashboards, and data analytics tools to work collaboratively with team members to make informed decisions about traffic management.
* Monitor email inbox and reply to messages, as necessary.
* Adhere to established SOPs and guidelines for conduct in the management center.
* Establish and maintain positive relationships with co-workers, supervisors, clients, and colleagues.
Qualifications:
* Some college is required; Associate or bachelor degree in civil engineering or information technology preferred.
* Prior related experience in Traffic Engineering/Traffic Operations preferred.
* Knowledge of Traffic Engineering/Traffic Operations principles and regional transportation systems/stakeholders is a plus.
* Proficient level in Microsoft Office suite products/Office 365 with emphasis on Excel-based programming required. Overall strong computer skills necessary.
* Some familiarity with the MUTCD and other transportation publications.
* Some experience with the creation and implementation of QA/QC policies.
* Ability to gather information from multiple sources, dashboards, and data analytics tools to make informed decisions and evaluate cause/effect relationship of actions taken.
* Ability to interface with ITS devices such as Closed-Circuit TV (CCTV) cameras and traffic signal systems.
* Perform tasks effectively under pressure.
* Effective time management and organizational skills, including the ability to multi-task.
* Must thrive in a team setting and act with professional demeanor and positive attitude at all times.
* Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
Compensation: $32.00-$37.00 per hour (depending on qualifications)
