				COMPANY PROFILE 
The Kodiak Area Native Association was formed in 1966 as a 501 (C)(3) non-profit corporation providing health and social services for the Alaska Natives of the Koniag region. The Kodiak Area Native Association (KANA) service area includes the City of Kodiak and six Alaska Native villages: Akhiok, Karluk, Old Harbor, Ouzinkie, Port Lions, and Larsen Bay.  

Services provided by KANA include an Ambulatory Medical Care and Dental Care, Pharmacy, Contract Health, Community Health Aide Program, Substance Abuse Prevention, Intervention/Outreach, Social Services, non-clinical community Mental Health, and Youth Prevention Projects. Other services provided by the organization include Women, Infant and Children (WIC) program, Vocational Rehabilitation, Early Childhood programs, Education, Employment and Training programs, Infant Learning Program, a full service Fitness Center and Tribal Operations/Environmental Health.

POSITION SUMMARY
Prepares and cooks congregate or home-delivered meals for eligible seniors in villages, and provide supportive services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
*Prepares meals which meet the RDA requirements and are appropriate to the dietary needs of the elderly, using reference guides and specified training.
*Plans and prepares meals from cycle menus, providing nutritious food from each of the four basic food groups, and posts menus one month in advance.
*Ensures a sanitary environment for preparation of meals both congregate and home delivered.
*Picks up food items from air carrier, stores in a clean and locked storage area, and updates inventory as requested.
*Orders food monthly; purchases food from local village store when necessary with prior approval.
*Participates in activities and post or distribute literature promoting improved nutrition for the elderly; once per quarter (four times a year).
*Provides supportive services to eligible seniors, which include but are not limited to: information and referral, visiting, and telephoning.
*Ensures Elder Intake forms are completely filled out providing assistance when needed.
*Prepares KANA monthly reports to include menus, people serviced, and supportive services provided; submit Tribal
*Council authorized time sheets to KANA twice each month on designated turn in days.
*Collects monies from non-eligible participants, forwards donations to Tribal Council, and reports donation and donations to KANA in the monthly attendance log.
*Promotes healthy lifestyle by providing information on physical fitness activities.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATED, LICENSEE, REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
Applicant must be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent. 
Must be able to obtain State of Alaska food handlers certificate within 30 days from the date of hire and pass a general health physical for handling food. 
Must also be willing to attend Kodiak based training as provided by the program, be willing to learn basic knowledge of nutrition and sanitation and work effectively with village seniors.
Prior cooking experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
