Overview:
Temp Assignment Based Registered Respiratory Therapists serves as an intricate member of the healthcare team at Novant Health by establishing an authentic personalized relationship with the patient and their chosen support system, collaborating with physicians and other team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualized respiratory plan of care that promotes optimal health or a comforting peaceful death. The Registered Respiratory Therapist utilizes best scientific evidence and compassion to assist the patient in navigating their health journey. The Registered Respiratory Therapist accepts responsibility, authority, and accountability for management and provision of care in accordance with the current policies and procedures.
These RRTs are temporarily assigned to one unit for a designated number of weeks based on needs of the system. These RRTs possess the skills, competency and qualifications, as well as a requirement to work in any Novant Health location. RRT is required for this role.
Responsibilities:
It is the responsibility of every Novant Health team member to deliver the most remarkable patient experience in every dimension, every time.
* Acts as a patient advocate for the patient and their support system by incorporating education in the interdisciplinary care plan.
* Prioritize job duties according to patients' needs and changing acuity levels and ensures timely completion of care interventions, medical orders, etc.
* Administers and evaluates medication therapies, performs patient transfers and transports patients.
* Ability to evaluate patient needs and provide appropriate routine respiratory care such as ABGs, bronchial hygiene therapy, etc., as well as perform higher levels of care in critical care areas and emergent situations.
* Demonstrates independence in the specialty of Respiratory Care. Practices according to state requirements and standards.
* Critical Care Specific: Ventilator management, code blue, airway management, interpretation and intervention with blood gas analysis, use of all related protocols for patient care.
Qualifications:
* Education: 2 Year / Associate Degree, required. 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, preferred.
* Experience: 1 year, required.
* Licensure/Certification: Current RCP licensure in appropriate state, required.
