The Tele-ICU unit serves as a leader within the healthcare team at Novant Health by connecting its outlying hospitals through innovative technology to provide remarkable patient-focused care. The Tele-ICU allows for ICU monitoring throughout the Novant Health System from a remote location, which is currently located in Monroe, NC with inclusive options to work remotely in the future following successful completion of 90 day orientation.

 The goal of the Tele-ICU is to provide critical care clinical expertise to bedside nurses from a remote location by maximizing technology in order to detect trends in patient data, identify instability and communicate with bedside ICU staff quickly and effectively to improve patient outcomes. The Tele-ICU promotes collaborative relationships and communication with the bedside ICU medical and nursing staff via tele-monitoring during daily interdisciplinary rounds.

The Tele-ICU RN provides tele-nursing care to a diverse population of critically ill ICU patients across multiple Novant Health hospitals. The Tele-ICU RN must exhibit excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills, while maintaining confidentiality. This role also includes reaching out to providers, verbal and telephone order entry, receiving and relaying radiology and lab results, utilizing and implementing approved Critical Care Medine (CCM) protocols, collecting data and providing tele-nursing care during the patient's ICU stay to achieve optimal outcomes. The Tele-ICU RN will conduct patient assessments through video technologies and the EMR.

 The Tele-ICU RN acts as a liaison between hospital ICU staff and the remote Tele-ICU intensivist to provide remarkable care during routine and emergent conditions. Collaboration between Tele-ICU and ICU bedside staff is also used to evaluate effectiveness of nursing interventions and revise plans of care based upon patient response to interventions.We are seeking highly motivated team players who are interested in contributing to a positive work environment, and will demonstrate initiative, ownership and accountability.

Qualifications:

* Education: 2 Year / Associate Degree, required. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. If your RN nursing license has been inactive, retired or lapsed for five years or more and you have not been licensed in another state during the last five years, successful completion of a Board approved refresher course is required prior to reactivating or reinstating your license. In order to be considered for current licensure status, you must apply for reinstatement within one year of completing the refresher course. 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, preferred.
* Experience: 2 years, required.
* Licensure/Certification:
*  Current RN licensure in appropriate state, required.
* BLS Healthcare Provider, ACLS, required.
* Certified Critical Care RN (CCRN/CCRN-E) preferred; required within one (1) year of hire, preferred.

* Additional Skills (required): Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skill validation and competency testing. Must demonstrate strong communication skills and sensitivity to patient needs.
* Additional Skills (preferred):
* Previous applicable progressive/telemetry and/or critical care/neuro clinical experience. Advanced computer and analytic skills including experience with electronic health record, data, abstraction and reporting. Process and quality improvement experience. Strong leadership skills such as autonomy, creativity, innovation, cooperation, loyalty, independent judgement, ability to delegate, adaptability, perseverance, high energy level, perceptive and strong work ethic.
* Tele-ICU RN must demonstrate excellent computer skills with the ability to multitask, including navigating and documenting in an EMR (Epic) while communicating with the patient and ICU bedside team using video (Zoom) and/or telephonic (Voalte) platform. The RN must have a broad clinical knowledge base of multiple conditions and expected outcomes, be able to demonstrate critical thinking skills and appropriate decision-making skills for the need of a patient. Maintaining knowledge of clinical best practice, issues, trends, technology, appropriate levels of care, and use of policies and procedures appropriately are essential. Previous clinical experience with CRRT, IABP, Artic Sun, and/or NICOM is preferred.
