				Overview:

Under the direction and supervision of a pharmacist, provides accurate assistance in the filling of orders, performance of clerical duties and maintaining adequate supplies. Delivers medication and supplies to Nursing units and departments as required.

Responsibilities:

* Picks up medication orders and requisitions from the units and place them in the proper location for the pharmacists.
* Delivers medications and supplies to the nursing areas and departments according to the established schedule.
* Maintains reserve and working inventories in the Pharmacy.
* Prepackages and repackages drugs
* Assembles drug vials and diluents containers using aseptic technique in the laminar flow hood.
* Fills medication labels/cassettes that will be checked by Pharmacist.
* Fills floor stock orders according to the established levels.
* Keep work area clean and neat at all times.
* Restocks medication trays for crash carts.
* Delivers floor-stock controlled substances in secured bag to nursing units.
* Receives and puts away medications received from wholesaler and other suppliers.
* Places IV labels onto IVPBs that will be checked by the pharmacist.
* Puts away medications returned from units.
* Sends Automatic Stop Order reports to units.
* Coordinates all aspects of Pharmacy practice performed by technicians.
* Oversees daily receipt of drugs into the Pharmacy.
* Ensures an adequate level of stock is maintained.
* Ensures rotation of stock. Coordinates and performs routine checks for expired/deteriorated drums.
* Processes return goods to drug wholesaler and ensures issuance of credit.
* Ensures that the I.V. Room is stocked and clean.
* Performs other related duties as requested.

Qualifications:

Education:

* High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

* Minimum three (3) years related job experience required.

Knowledge and Skills:

* Requires thorough knowledge of the technical field. 
* Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing.
* Knowledge of computers and word processing skills.

Licenses, Certifications:

* Pharmacy Technician Certificate required.

Physical Requirements:

* Involves standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing and bending. 
* May include some repetitive motions.
