				Responsibilities:

GFT is seeking a Tax Manager to join our Accounting team in Kansas City, MO or Mechanicsburg, PA! This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at your assigned office.
 
The GFT Shared Service Services team, which includes Human Resources, Legal, Accounting & Finance, IT Services and Marketing & Communications, is essential for managing and supporting the company's global operations. Shared Services is part of a broader strategy to transform the business and improve efficiency. The support of this amazing team of professionals is the backbone of our ability to deliver infrastructure consulting and design services.
 
What you'll be challenged to do:

The Tax Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing the tax department and ensuring compliance with local, state and federal tax laws and regulations. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in tax preparation and planning, financial reporting and excellent analytical skills in order to play a role in strategic tax planning, managing audits and minimizing tax liabilities while ensuring the accuracy of each filing.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following: 

* Oversee and manage all tax reporting and compliance with necessary federal, state, local, payroll, property and other applicable taxes. Position includes planning and preparing local, state and federal corporate consolidated and standalone tax returns, estimated tax payments, tax apportionment schedules and related tax documents.
* Directly manage a team of tax and accounting professionals
* Analyze and review financial data to develop and implement tax strategies that ensure compliance with tax laws and optimize tax savings.
* Conduct research on tax laws and regulations keeping abreast of changes and developments and advise CAO/CFO on tax related issues and/or opportunities.
* Collaborate with external auditors during financial and tax audits.
* Respond and prepare correspondence for tax notices received.
* Calculate and manage the Company's tax provision on the financial statements, including preparing tax analysis and reconciling tax accounts.
* Oversee fixed asset accounting, business licensing, Secretary of State annual reporting and other state and local reporting to governmental authorities.
* Oversee storage records and retention guidelines.
* Identify opportunities for process improvement in tax-related areas, implementing new technologies and best practices.

Qualifications:

What you will bring to our firm: 
* Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
* 5-8 years of experience in corporate tax accounting
* Strong leadership skills with previous experience directly managing other tax professionals
* Excellent knowledge of tax accounting, tax compliance and all types of tax returns.
* Ability to prioritize projects, manage workload effectively and efficiently.
* Analytical and problem-solving skills with detail orientation.

What we prefer you bring: 
* CPA preferred
* Previous experience with an Architectural, Engineering, or Construction Management (AEC) firm or a CPA firm highly preferred

Compensation:
The salary range for this role is $90,000 - $110,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
