Initial placement within the salary range is based on an individual's relevant knowledge, skills, and experience. Responsibilities:
- Adheres to all departmental and property policies and procedures regarding guest service standards. - Assumes responsibility for the collection of specimens that include blood and/or urine before or after race. - Maintains logs of activities performed including all collections and verifies packaging of specimens; enters data into system. - Ensures all paperwork pertaining to collection performed is completed properly including horse name and time of collection; turns in all receipts, paperwork, and samples to the proper designated area. - Maintains a clean and sanitary worksite; wears required uniform and safety materials as needed. - Attends and participates in professional group meetings; maintains awareness of new trends and innovations in the field of Veterinary Phlebotomy. - Performs all other related and compatible duties as assigned. - Maintains strict confidentiality in all company matters.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent and three (3) years of experience working in Veterinary Phlebotomy required; or equivalent combination of education and experience. - Must have thorough knowledge and understanding of all aspects of a Veterinary Phlebotomy operation. - Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills; must be fluent and literate in English. - Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism. - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. - Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, and Outlook). - Must have the ability to interact with guests, staff, and colleagues and resolve problems and conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner. - Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. - Must have excellent problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills. - Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. - Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with team members at all levels of the organization.
