About Us: Since we opened in 2001, we have experienced tremendous growth as a language school, providing high quality lessons for children and adults. There are two locations in the city center and we currently have over 30 foreign teachers from the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. We offer extensive support to new teachers as they adapt to living in China, providing mobile phone SIM card upon arrival, internet access in all apartments, assistance with opening a bank account and a tour of some of the city's sites and shopping areas. All the resources and materials you'll need for teaching are right here in the school. These include a catalog of flashcards, props, course books, online materials, in addition to years of collective teacher-produced supplementary handouts on our shared teachers' server. Each classroom has an IWB (interactive whiteboard) and internet connection. The IWBs are easy to use, and help bring lessons to life. Teachers are given full training on how to use the technology available in school, so technophobes need not fear! Our Young Learners (3-6 year old students) courses are grouped by developmental stages, and with no more than 12 students per group, allow for maximum interaction between student and teacher. The next age group (7-10 year olds), and (11-14), are grouped by English ability, with a maximum class size of 18. Each class has a local teaching assistant, who is there to help students review previously-learned language, assist with classroom management, and also liaise with students' parents about each child's progress. Currently, the majority of our adult students are employees from local foreign owned enterprises. Most adult lessons are one-to-one and are designed for those who are preparing to move overseas and need to practice general English in order to cope with daily life in an English-speaking country. About Shenyang City: Located in the center of Liaoning Province on the bank of the Hun River, Shenyang has a history that stretches back thousands of years. While modern Shenyang grows bigger by the day, glimpses into the past can still be found. Cultural and historical relics, from Neolithic ruins to Qing palaces, are still well preserved. Shenyang's Forbidden City, the Qing dynasty's first imperial palace, is a major tourist attraction that is worth a visit. Also still standing in the city are four Buddhist pagodas that represented the cardinal points of the city in the 17th century. Areas outside of the city also offer exciting things to do in your free time. In winter people flock to ski slopes and nearby hot springs. Summer is the perfect time to explore the surrounding countryside on your bike or climb mountains. Unlike bigger cities like Beijing and Shanghai, Shenyang is still a very affordable city to live in. A lower cost of living means that a teacher's salary goes further every month, leaving them free to save, spend on travel, or even send money back home. Shenyang is not a tourist trap, so foreigners here enjoy a rich and authentic Chinese experience, at the same time as being able to locate the creature comforts that they have at home. About the Candidate: *You should be enthusiastic, dedicated and responsible. *You should like being around children and be genuinely concerned with their academic and social development. *You should be able to work both independently, and as part of a team.
