The System Senior Vice President (SSVP) for the Physician Enterprise (PE) reports to the System EVP of Physician Enterprise and has a dotted line report to their assigned Region President.  This role is part of the national governance team that develops and operationalizes system-wide standards and strategy for operations and access; patient and provider experience; communications and marketing; quality, service lines and national medical group standardization and development; academic affairs, population health, financials,  provider recruiting and compensation strategies across Physician Enterprise.

In addition, this position will serve as the accountable executive responsible for the ambulatory portfolio of healthcare assets across the Region, which may include, but not be limited to, ambulatory outpatient services, physician and APP engagement (regardless of alignment model), employment business models, academic partnerships, as well as other alternative healthcare delivery systems.  The SSVP ensures the strategic direction and PE operations for the Region are sound and congruent with the mission, vision, and values of CommonSpirit Health. They are responsible for overall PE clinical quality and Value Based Care working with CIN leadership both regionally and nationally. This position partners closely with Region leadership to develop and implement initiatives that are aligned with both the broader PE strategy, the clinical direction, and the long range strategic and financial plan of the Region. They will create a sustainable vision, strategy and business model for the long-term development and operation of the PE in conjunction with the Region, developing and implementing effective strategic and capital plans, operating and capital budgets, major projects and partnerships, goals and objectives that respond to emerging opportunities and regional needs, improving organizational effectiveness and ultimately enhancing the competitive position of the Region, the Physician Enterprise, and CommonSpirit Health.

Responsibilities:

* Responsible for governing the development and operationalization of Physician Enterprise system-wide strategy and standards for access, operations, quality, patient experience, provider experience and wellness, provider compensation, financials, service lines, hospital-based specialty medical group stabilization, academic affairs, and population health.

* Responsible for the short and long-term strategies, capital and operational budgets, and the medical staff development plans for the PE Region. Ensures the PE Region meets the goals and objectives of the Physician Enterprise, Region and CommonSpirit Health.

* Partners with physician and region leaders to develop engagement strategies for providers that build cohesion around a common clinical vision, including clinical quality, clinical standards, variation reduction, health equity, and excellent patient experience, while aligning strategic and economic incentives, and advancing quality improvement and patient safety initiatives. 

* Leads the transformation to a more results-oriented culture, ensuring that standard practices and a common set of metrics are extended across groups,regions, and/or national, with sensitivity to the nuances necessary to ensure that unique market needs are met. 

* Recruits, assimilates, and retains premier, culturally aligned providers to achieve CommonSpirit Health's strategic initiatives and growth targets, and to ensure that the organization's unique presence in each of its markets meets the needs of the community, attracts and retains patients and providers within its network, and prevents patient out-migration for either primary or specialty care. Maintains close collaborative relationships with hospital system leaders, in support of recruiting and retention of physician medical staff and hospital based services within and across multiple Regions.

* Monitors region and market KPIs to national, region, PE, and System benchmarks, to optimize access to care, provider growth, clinical performance, and value. Assesses provider compensation and incentive plans and adjusts them, as appropriate, to ensure they remain market competitive, aligned with the PE, and any future fee-for-value strategies. Responsible for Value Based Care. Maintains close collaborative relationships with hospital system leaders, in support of collaboration with CIN/ACO.

* Directs and oversees designated healthcare assets, service lines and delivery models within and across multiple Regions. Plans and implements new services using different business models and strategic relationships with external partners and physicians.

* Develops and maintains strong academic partnerships, ensuring integration of talent and clinical excellence in partnership with national PE. 

* Builds and develops a bench of management talent by ensuring effective utilization of human resources and oversees integrated strategies to ensure quality results in the recruitment, selection, retention and development of the workforce. If applicable, maintain collaborative relationships with labor organizations. Has direct accountability for culture and employee engagement. 

* In partnership with the National PE Executive Team, Regional Leadership, Physician Leaders, and other key stakeholders across the system, provides the leadership to develop, guide and facilitate CommonSpirit Health's strategy towards an Integrated Clinical Enterprise.

Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience:

* Medical degree accompanied by a clinical and administrative background is required. 
* Minimum of ten (10) years of executive or senior healthcare leadership experience within a complex, multi-site, multi-area health care organization including ambulatory and outpatient service delivery systems, high provider and employee engagement, and effective physician relationships. 
* Minimum of eight (8) years of leadership experience working in an academic environment preferred. Associate Professor or higher experience preferred. 

Required Licensure and Certifications:

* Medical Degree (MD or DO)

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training:

* Leadership experience in a large complex integrated healthcare system.
* Superior leadership experience, particularly in cultivating a high-performing team, and in developing and maintaining excellent relations with physicians and staff at all levels. 
* Demonstrated ability to lead multi- specialty groups of physicians and ability to work effectively in a dyadic leadership model.
* Track record of progressive development of ambulatory clinics and physician practices. 
* Deep understanding of medical groups and all physician alignment structures
* Strong experience with leading and building out the continuum of care: hospitals, large medical groups, population health entities such as IPAs and building out network integrity. 
* Experience with mergers and acquisitions, creation of various joint ventures and other growth strategies 
* Healthcare operational and financial acumen and knowledge and experience leading complex and innovative delivery models.
* Experience working across the continuum of care and developing an IDN.
