Job Summary:
Xanterra Travel Collection(r) seeks a passionate, hands-on sustainability professional to support the development, implementation, and maintenance of environmental strategies and programs for Glacier National Park Lodges and Cedar Creek Lodge. The seasonal Sustainability Manager will support the Glacier Director of Risk and Sustainability by advancing sustainability initiatives, compliance, certifications, and employee engagement during the peak tourism season. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical knowledge and people skills who thrives in seasonal, mission-driven environments.

The Details:
Position Type: Seasonal
Season Dates: April 20 - October 16, 2026

Pay: $2,448.00 bi-weekly
Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)
Housing: Employee housing is not available

Responsibilities:

* Support the achievement of Xanterra, Glacier National Park Lodges, and Glacier National Park Service (NPS) sustainability goals by implementing and monitoring environmental strategies and programs for Glacier operations.
* Maintain compliance with NPS sustainability requirements, ISO 14001 standards, and all applicable local, state, and federal environmental laws and regulations.
* Assist with the continual improvement of the ISO 14001-certified Our Softer Footprint(r) Environmental Management System (EMS) including supporting successful completion of audits.
* Track sustainability Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), including utility use, greenhouse gas emissions, waste generation, recycling, and sustainable procurement using Xanterra's Ecometrix system monthly.
* Assist with the preparation of annual location sustainability reports.
* Lead solid waste management, recycling, and composting programs including occasionally performing manual tasks such as collecting and transporting recycling or compost materials.
* Oversee Xanterra's Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program including Xanterra pest exclusion staff and contracted pesticide applicators.
* Help coordinate and present staff training on sustainability and environmental compliance including orientation for other seasonal employees.
* Maintain compliance with Montana DEQ's drinking water standards for public water systems. 
* Engage employees and guests through sustainability messaging campaigns, events, and educational initiatives, fostering a culture of sustainability and accountability.
* Use audits, inspections, and incident response to monitor and document corrective actions.
* Collaborate with other departments to optimize operational efficiency and support sustainability goals.
* Other duties assigned by the Director of Risk and Sustainability.

Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

* Required: 
* Strong organizational, relationship, and communication skills, including the ability to present ideas effectively to a variety of audiences.
* Practical knowledge of relevant environmental regulations and sustainability best practices.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; ability to learn company-specific platforms and tools.
* Ability to introduce, promote, and drive change in a practical and financially sound manner.
* Self-motivated team player with a hands-on management style.
* Ability to prioritize and problem-solve in a dynamic, fast paced environment.
* Valid driver's license and passing a motor vehicle and criminal background check.
* Must be at least 21 years of age for driving requirement. 

* Preferred:
* Understanding of ISO 14001:2015 standards.
* Commitment to exceptional customer service.
* Passion for national parks and public lands.

Experience: 

* Required:
* At least five months of experience implementing, evaluating, and reporting on environmental compliance or sustainability programs.

* Preferred:
* Two years of professional experience in environmental management, sustainability, or a related field.
* Supervising and training others.
* Work in the hospitality industry.

* Familiarity with NPS concession contracts and reporting.
* Use of sustainability tracking platforms (ex. for GHG accounting).

Education:

* Required:
* High school diploma or GED equivalent.

* Preferred:
* Bachelor's degree in sustainability, environmental science, environmental or occupational health and safety, engineering, business, or a related field.
* Professional credentials or training such as LEED GA or HAZWOPER.

Physical Requirements include:

* Must be able to sit for extended periods and drive a vehicle throughout the park. 
* Ability to live and work in a remote, seasonally cold, rural, and higher altitude environment.
* Ability to walk, climb stairs, stand, reach, and lift boxes or materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
* Ability to sustain the physical activities associated with recycling and composting operations, with or without reasonable accommodation
* Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and comply with company and NPS safety requirements.
