Responsibilities:
The Survey Project Manager is responsible for leading land surveying projects from initiation through completion, with a primary focus on transportation and public service sectors. This role ensures that all project deliverables meet client expectations, regulatory requirements, company quality standards, and financial goals. As the main point of contact between SAM and its clients, the Survey Project Manager oversees both field and office teams, drives business development efforts, and supports staff growth and development.
* Manage transportation and public-sector land survey projects from planning through delivery
* Prepare and oversee proposals, budgets, schedules, contracts, and billing
* Supervise field and office teams, assigning resources and setting work plans
* Sign and seal plats, field notes, and right-of-way drawings as needed
* Implement systems to improve efficiency and ensure quality standards
* Serve as the primary contact for clients and maintain strong relationships
* Drive business development and lead proposal efforts for public projects
* Present project updates and technical reports to clients and stakeholders
* Coordinate with sub-consultants and internal teams for seamless execution
* Track project financials, including AR, WIP, and overall profitability
* Mentor staff on technical standards and agency requirements
* Represent SAM at client meetings, trade shows, and industry events
Qualifications:
* Previous experience managing large scale Transportation/Public Service survey projects
* Strong proficiency with or understanding of tools such as AutoCAD, Micro Station, Geopack, MS Office Suite
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to clearly define assignments/deliverables to team members
* Ability to oversee, mentor and motivate a project team
* Ability to troubleshoot issues and problem solve on the fly
* Ability to meet or exceed aggressive deadlines while maintaining teamwork and collaboration with others
* Professional License required
