Do you thrive in a fast-paced environment where teamwork and precision make all the difference? We're looking for a Surgical Technician to support our surgical team and ensure patients receive safe, high-quality care before, during, and after procedures.
What You'll Do
* Assist with patient care activities under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse

* Perform selected perioperative technical procedures once competency is demonstrated

* Work closely with RNs and other healthcare professionals to deliver seamless patient care

* Support the surgical team by maintaining standards of perioperative nursing practice

* Provide technical services and assistance that contribute to excellent patient and family experiences

* Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure efficiency, safety, and patient satisfaction

Responsibilities:

Utilizes critical thinking in performance of job duties and maintains responsibility relating to surgical technology.

Coordinates activities with registered nurses and other coworkers in planning and implementing care within hospital policies and legal limitations.

Prepares the operating room for the arrival of surgical patients, assembles equipment, supplies, and instruments for surgical procedures according to preference cards and type of procedure.

Assists the circulating nurse with patient care activities including transporting patient, surgical scrub prep, positioning, application of cautery ground pad, and tourniquet cuff. Performs urinary bladder catheterizations under the supervision of the circulating nurse.

Responsible for maintaining the integrity, safety and efficiency of the sterile field. Uses aseptic technique to arrange instruments and supplies. Performs instrument, sponge, and sharp counts.

Demonstrates correct technique in handling of instruments, sutures, specimens, and medications.

Consistently delivers high quality care demonstrating surgical technology knowledge and skills in the operating room in accordance with established policies and procedures and standards of care.

Qualifications:

Requires high school diploma or GED and graduation from an accredited surgical technology program or eligibility to take the CST exam.

The newly graduated Surgical Technologist must obtain certification within 12 months of hire date to maintain employment unless an extension has been granted by the OR Manager All grandfathered CST's must maintain CEU's as defined by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting. (60 CEU's every 4 years The CST must maintain an active certification throughout employment
