Responsibilities:

In keeping with the Dignity Health core values the Surgical Tech Specialist is to function as a team member during the preoperative intra-operative and postoperative phases of the surgical procedure. 

Qualifications:

* A minimum of two (2) years recent hospital experience in the capacity of a Surgical Technologist in all surgical specialties. 
* Demonstrates advanced skills appropriate to the role of the Surgical Technologist.
* Demonstrates proficiency in ability to scrub ophthalmology procedures and total joint procedures OR proficiency in ability to scrub Cardiac procedures. 
* Demonstrates ability to serve as a preceptor and role model for new Surgical Technologist staff and Surgical Technologist students during their clinical rotations. 
* Demonstrates ability to work within a decentralized model of patient care delivery. 
* Demonstrates a caring compassionate attitude toward others. 
* Demonstrates ability to organize and prioritize work efficiently. 
* Demonstrates ability to work in a stressful environment while remaining calm efficient and focused. 
* Demonstrates ability to communicate clearly concisely and accurately both in oral and written English skills.
* Demonstrates ability and willingness to actively participate in continuing education programs unit based task forces and committees. 
* Seeks opportunities for improving job knowledge and skills. 
* Demonstrates ability to assume on call status as determined by department manager and according to Department needs. 
* Demonstrates ability to role model proficient intermediate or advanced technical skills and specialty skills. 
* Certification as a Surgical Technologist CPR
