Novant Health Medical Group is looking for a conscientious, compassionate, and skilled Surgical Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our established, growing Maxillofacial Surgery practice of 3 physicians and 3 APPs in Wilmington, NC.  This position would provide clinical care for patients in both the ambulatory and acute settings. The practice sees patients for facial trauma and reconstructive surgery, cleft/craniofacial and orthognathic surgery, head and neck oncology and microvascular surgery.  We are looking for a candidate who has an interest in the surgical care of patients who might need non-aesthetic plastic surgery following a diagnosis. The ideal candidate is patient-centric, flexible, adaptable, dependable, and respectful of all team members.  Experience in surgical assisting desired. RNFA certification required for NP's or ability to obtain by 12/31/2024.

Our expert surgeons, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants work collaboratively to provide remarkable care to our operative and non-operative patients. The selected APP will be responsible for performing a variety of functions under the supervision of our plastic surgeons. These functions, though not all-inclusive, include seeing patients in the clinic setting, performing office procedures, surgical assisting in the operating room, and rounding at our acute facilities.

Qualifications:

* Education: Graduate Degree, required. Masters of Physician Assistant Studies, Masters of Nurse Practitioner, or similar degree conferred by an accredited program, such as NCCPA and ARC-PA, required.
* Experience: One year of experience working in general or other surgical sub-specialty, emergency/inpatient medicine or comparable experience; preferred. 3 to 5 years experience, preferred.
* Licensure/Certification: Current NP or PA license in appropriate state, registry required w/state medical board, current DEA registry and ACLS( not required for the in- office only NP/PA) and BLS; required.
* Additional Skills Required: Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing. Proficient in the performance of clinic and bedside general surgery procedures, including but not limited to laceration repair, incision and drainage of large abscesses, punch biopsies, removal of superficial skin lesions is a must. The candidate must be comfortable working in the operating room, clinic and surgical wards. Thorough skill in obtaining a surgical history and conducting a physical examination is a must. Must be comfortable writing complete daily progress notes, consultation notes, and writing discharge summaries. Communication skills, both verbal and written, general computer knowledge is preferred; ability to work independently, yet in collaboration with physicians, nurses and care team. Ability to use problem-solving, decision making, and creative thinking skills. Must be able to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing clinical environment. Must participate in call rotation.
