This person will be available to answer calls on inpatient concerns, will see new consults overnight and schedule procedures. They can be trained by following APP during the day at hospital. They will have a GI MD on call that they can contact for questions or emergencies.
Novant Health Medical Group is looking for a conscientious, compassionate, and skilled Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our local, growing Gastroenterology practice of 9 physicians and 11 APPs in Wilmington, NC. This position would provide clinical care for our patients in both the ambulatory and acute settings. We are looking for a candidate who has interest in helping drive and manage the care for patients with complex gastrointestinal needs. The ideal candidate is patient-centric, flexible, adaptable, dependable, and respectful of all team members. Gastroenterology experience preferred. One year of APP experience preferred. Weekend and Holiday rotation required. No call required.

Our expert gastroenterologists, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants work collaboratively to provide remarkable care to our operative and non-operative patients. The selected APP will be responsible for performing a variety of functions under the supervision of our physicians. These functions, though not all-inclusive, include seeing patients in the clinic setting and rounding at our acute facilities.

Qualifications:
* Education: Graduate degree, required. Masters of Physician Assistant Studies, Masters of Nurse Practitioner, or similar degree conferred by an accredited program, such as NCCPA and ARC-PA.
* Experience: One year of experience working in general or other surgical subspecialty, emergency/inpatient medicine or comparable experience. 3 to 5 years experience preferred.
* Licensure/Certification: Current NP or PA license in appropriate state, registry required w/state medical board, current DEA registry and ACLS( not required for the in- office only NP/PA) and BLS Required
* Additional Skills (required): Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing. Proficient in the performance of clinic and bedside general surgery procedures, including but not limited to laceration repair, incision and drainage of large abscesses, punch biopsies, removal of superficial skin lesions is a must. The candidate must be comfortable working in the operating room, clinic and surgical wards. Thorough skill in obtaining a surgical history and conducting a physical examination is a must. Must be comfortable writing complete daily progress notes, consultation notes, and writing discharge summaries. Communication skills, both verbal and written, general computer knowledge is preferred; ability to work independently, yet in collaboration with physicians, nurses and care team. Ability to use problem-solving, decision making, and creative thinking skills. Must be able to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing clinical environment. Must participate in call rotation.
