				Overview:

The Supply Chain Development Lead role has been newly created at MPI to support the implementation of our Vision 2030 plan. You will be at the forefront of driving strategies that align with our commitment to Innovation, Speed and Competitiveness.

This is a Senior role reporting to VP of Operations, demands a dynamic individual who will be autonomous from day-to-day operations (the first year) to ensure that they have the freedom and bandwidth to execute their strategic mission. That mission is to optimize the supply chain, through developing and executing comprehensive commodity strategies that drive Quality, Cost & Delivery metrics to support the company's goals. The role necessitates a strong relationship with both the Engineering & Operational Purchasing teams in order to succeed, so a background in both areas is essential.

Responsibilities:

* Leading cross-functional teams from Purchasing & Engineering in standardization and value engineering activities.
* Negotiating framework agreements with Key Suppliers
* Developing collaborative relationships and strategic plans with key suppliers.
* Implementing Vendor Performance Metrics for Quality, Cost & Delivery to enhance supplier relationships and drive improvement plans.
* Implementing & reporting Purchase Price Variation metrics to measure progress on material cost reduction goals.
* Conducting cost benchmarking of the current supply base and identifying new suppliers to improve competitiveness.
* Optimizing the supplier interface to streamline operations.
* Conducting Make vs Buy analysis on specific commodity groups.
* Identify cost reduction opportunities in non-production spend areas.
* Oversee operational responsibility for the Purchasing Team.
* Establish relations with staff and personnel to be viewed as a mentor and effective leader.
* Create clear and measurable goals and objectives for your department.
* Perform team member evaluations professionally and on time.
* Manage and maintain personnel including interviewing and hiring as required.
* Manage and maintain a clean, safe workplace and require prompt reporting of all incidents to Safety Personnel and HR.
* Travel to vendors/suppliers and customers sites as required.
* Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

* Knowledge, understanding, and participation in "Lean" principles and methods.
* Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field; an MBA or Professional Purchasing Qualification would be a plus.
* A strong mechanical engineering background, able to understand various manufacturing processes, with ideally at least base knowledge of hydraulic and control components.
* Must be able to collaborate effectively with the internal engineering team as well as suppliers.
* Proven experience in strategic procurement within the manufacturing or automation solutions industry.
* A track record of Supply Chain Cost Reduction in an engineering environment
* Proven experience in developing and implementing successful Commodity Strategies.
* Strong leadership skills in leading cross-functional teams.
* Knowledge of Vendor Performance Metrics and experience in their implementation.
* Analytical mindset with the ability to leverage data for strategic decision-making.
* Expertise in cost benchmarking and optimization of the supplier interface.
* Strong understanding of Lean manufacturing principles and their application to procurement.
* Exceptional negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
* Familiarity with ERP systems and advanced procurement tools would be advantageous.
