The Supervisory, Patient Observers manages and oversees the day-to-day operation of the Patient Observers. Accomplishes staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; conducting training; implementing enforcing systems, policies, and procedures. Operational decision-making skills used on a daily basis. Will serve in the role as support to the nursing leadership team with administrative responsibilities, which include but not limited to: payroll, assigned meeting minutes, and participation in nursing projects as assigned. Will also have oversight to report running from various nursing portals.

Responsibilities:

A day in the life of a Supervisor, Patient Observers at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

* Manages performance, schedules, vacation requests, and approves payroll. Organizes workflow and ensures that employees understand their duties or delegated tasks
* Plans and oversees instruction and hospital orientation for all patient observers 
* Facilitates all nursing department meetings for the nurse manager team and patient observers, prepares agenda, and completes meeting minutes
* Maintains and supports administrative supervisor s schedules. Evaluates schedule needs and escalates to senior leadership as necessary
* Regularly monitors key financial indicators and performance metrics, modifying business activities where needed in response to changing financial situations
* Utilizes technology (M/S word, outlook, excel) to tracks, analyze and report on relevant data and metrics as needed. Develops, recommends and/or implements actions or process improvements as appropriate
* Other duties and/or projects as assigned
* Assists in coordination of special projects
* Maintains up-to-date departmental manuals, meeting minutes and files 
* Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior

Qualifications:

* Associates degree required
* Supervisory experience preferred
