Overview: Emergency Room Nursing Supervisor Shift: Evening/Night Step into the heart of critical care at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, an ACS-verified Level I Trauma Center serving approximately 45,000 patients each year. Our hospital is a Primary Stroke Center, nationally accredited in Cardiac and Heart Failure care, and part of a system with ACGME-accredited residency programs, including Emergency Medicine. What You'll Do As the Emergency Room Nursing Supervisor, you'll play a key role in ensuring smooth, high‑quality operations during evening and night shifts. Your responsibilities will include: * Overseeing day‑to‑day unit operations with a focus on quality, safety, and cost‑effective patient care. * Providing leadership, coaching, and support to the nursing team-helping staff grow professionally and perform at their best. * Ensuring a holistic approach to care, considering the physical, psychosocial, spiritual, educational, and safety needs of each patient. * Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to maintain seamless communication and exceptional care delivery. * Promoting a positive, professional work environment where teamwork and compassion come first. Sign-On Bonus of $10,000 for full time offers Relocation bonus of $10,000 for full time offers if relocating more than 50 miles Responsibilities: * Manages daily operations of patient care. Contributes to the maintenance of high quality, cost effective services consistent with the needs of the users and the hospital's budgetary guidelines. * Provides clinical leadership by directing, coordinating and delegating patient care in an organized manner, allowing for flexibility. * Collaborates with physicians and other health care team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes. * Remains competent and available to participate in patient care pertinent to clinical specialty. * Demonstrates personal and professional growth and promotes the same among team members. * Maintains awareness of applicable laws and/or regulations affecting patient care. Remains current on law/regulation changes, recognizes implications to the organization and recommends courses of action to ensure compliance. * Assists in the development of policy/procedure and guidelines for safe, efficient operation of the department as needed. * Assists in developing annual budget and takes appropriate action when appropriate to maintain control of department financial resources. * Implements evidence based practice strategies to meet the patient care needs. Assists in the achievement of quality improvement objectives and takes necessary modifications for attainment of goals. * Interviews, orients, trains, schedules, evaluates, disciplines, and terminates staff with appropriate input. Demonstrates the ability to fairly and consistently interpret, apply and follow personnel policies/procedures. * Is able to instruct and lead the staff so that a high level of productivity is maintained, intervening when necessary to problem solve. Qualifications: Education: * Bachelor's Degree Experience: * One year experience as a registered nurse License(s)/Certifications: * Current Iowa License as a registered nurse * Current BCLS certification
