Job Summary
This job is responsible for assisting in the delivery of non-professional nursing care, under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) in a defined care team and in accordance with scope of practice, for the Virginia Mason Franciscan Health (VMFH). An incumbent performs the basic aspects of general patient care where the services of a registered or licensed practical nurse are not required. Employees assist medical/nursing staff in the examination, treatment and care of patients, including the transport of patients and equipment and assisting in the admission, transfer and discharge of patients.
Tasks are assigned by nursing staff in clear, detailed and specific instructions. Employees work as instructed and seek guidance on matters not specifically covered in the original instructions. Work is reviewed through progress checks for accuracy, adequacy and adherence to standards, instructions and established procedures.
This is a temporary classification for employees who are currently enrolled in an accredited Nursing Assistant training program. This position is a pathway to the Nursing Assistant classification and is designed to provide concurrent work experience while training an incumbent to relevant didactic technical and clinical skills for competency at the completion of a defined VMFH hospital-sponsored educator/preceptor program.
Qualifications:
Education/Work Experience Requirements
Enrollment in the VMFH accredited Nursing Assistant program at the time of hire and continued enrollment thereafter through graduation. Experience in a healthcare environment is preferred.
Licensure/Certification
* Current healthcare provider BLS certification within 30 days of hire or placement in the job.
