Overview: Student Nurse Technician- Internal Resource Pool (Float) Part-Time Evenings, Nights Shift differentials for qualifying shifts Benefits Eligible Sign-On Bonus: $3,000 for full-time offers The Internal Resource Team (IRT) provides support and additional resources to nursing units throughout UnityPoint Health-Des Moines during times of vacancy, high acuity, and census variations. The IRT provides support for 17 adult, Medical/Surgical, inpatient nursing units at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Iowa Lutheran Hospital, and Methodist West Hospital. Responsibilities: * Partners with the RN and other healthcare team members to achieve patient care outcomes and goals of care, as identified in the plan of care. * Performs specific tasks as directed by the RN and other healthcare team members as identified in the PCT role. Consults and seeks out guidance from RN and/or other healthcare team members, as appropriate and when completing new or unfamiliar tasks or duties. * Tasks include but are not limited to: * Activities of Daily Living * Answering patient call lights * Assisting with simple procedures defined in the work area * Taking and recording vital signs and weights * Transporting patients, equipment, supplies, and specimens * Assists in maintaining a clean, orderly, and safe environment * Obtains, records and/or accurately enters data into the EMR. Promptly completes documentation to assure an accurate legal record of patient's care. * Verbally presents factual, concise, and timely information and/or patient care data to the RN, the healthcare team, patients and/or family members in a professional manner. Qualifications: Education: Enrolled in a formal BSN or ADN nursing program to include completion of introductory clinical nursing course with clinical component required. Team members within UPH-DM may remain in Student Nurse tech role for up to 6-months after passing the board and achieving RN license. Experience: Completion of 1 RN clinical rotation required. Six months of nursing assistant experience preferred. License(s)/Certification(s): Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons. Must possess and maintain current Basic Cardiac Life Support certification or obtain certification within three months from date of hire. Lifting Requirements: Level 3 Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
