What You Will Do:
GFT is seeking a Structural Engineer, Designer to join ourTransportation team in Toronto, ON. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Toronto office.
What you'll be challenged to do:
Our Toronto, ON office is currently seeking an experienced Structural Engineer / Designer to support our bridge projects. A successful candidate will be required to work independently, performing engineering calculations, technical studies and prepare plans and specifications for a wide variety of assignments that may include, technical studies, structural design and analysis for highway/railway bridges and related structures. May function as a Team Leader for bridge design and/or inspection tasks with the opportunity to lead and manage projects.
In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
* Participate in the development of design concepts and criteria and reviews project documents for conformity and quality assurance.
* Report to a Team Leader in support of bridge design and inspection activities for routine and complex structures.
* Work together with members of the team and provides mentorship to junior staff.
* Communicate with clients and attends project meetings.
* Work across disciplines to develop the overall design and plans for a project.
* Support the design of specific tasks related to bridge/structure design.
* Participate in the development of proposals as part of a pursuit team.
* Develop scope, estimated schedule, and costs for proposed project services
Qualifications:
What you will bring to our firm:
* 4+ years' experience working as a designer on bridge projects.
* BS in Civil Engineering or equivalent
* Eligible to receive Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) License (Ontario)
* Ability to work in a team environment, self-starter, demonstrated organization skills, team player, and willingness to learn.
* Ability to lead/direct others in plan development using CADD required
What we prefer you bring:
* Expertise with structural design software (CSI Bridge)
* Expertise in some areas of Design Manuals and Guidelines
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
Compensation:
Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
