Responsibilities:
JOB SUMMARY
Provides direct patient care in accordance with GMR's protocols and/or online medical direction. Assists with coverage of open shifts as needed in assigned area. Helps with the start-up of new bases and assists with PR and marketing at new and established bases when needed. One year of full-time flight experience with AEL required. Must be a preceptor approved by AEL Medical Director and Clinical Care Services
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES
Administrative duties
* Responsible for completion and submission of Flight Records if needed
* Responsible for Narcotic Count
* Maintains documentation of required licensure, certifications, continuing education, safety, and advanced procedures
* Attends and participates in meetings according to established base guidelines
* Maintains positive interpersonal relationships with colleagues, EMS representatives, hospitals, and the public
* Maintains awareness of current issues related to pre-hospital care through participation in professional activities, i.e. national, state legislative-elected or appointed
Strike Team Flight Nurse Duties
* Provides pre-hospital and intra-hospital advanced life support care from initial contact until patient care is relinquished to the accepting medical facility maintaining thorough patient care documentation
* Knowledgeable in use and routine and supplies used by emergency programs
* Functions as a medical flight member
* Attends pre-flight briefings and mission debriefing and completes necessary documentation
* Assists in pre-flight liftoff checklist and Pilot assistance when needed, i.e. radio, navigational, and visual observation activities
* Complies with safety standards to ensure safety of self, medical personnel, patient, and equipment prior to liftoff
* Acts as a preceptor and/or participates in orientation of new employees
* Conducts aircraft safety briefings as needed
* Responsible for filling open or vacant shifts as assigned
* Assists with new base start up
QUALIFICATIONS Education:
* Current RN licensed in the sates of assigned region
* Current in BLS, ACLS, PALS, BTLS/PHTLS and NRP - Prior to flight status
* CEN or CCRN prior to hire
* Ability to read, analyze, interpret health and flight related journals, hospital reports, and job specific legal documents
* Ability to discuss with management concerning inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
* Ability to perform mathematical functions to include algebra and geometry
* Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
* Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables Experience
WORKING CONDITIONS AND MENTAL/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Working Conditions:
* Must be able to sit in assigned aircraft seat in an upright position and restrained by a four point system while wearing a helmet
* Frequently required to work near moving mechanical part
* Required to work in outside weather conditions
* Frequently exposed to blood-borne pathogens or airborne particles
* Frequently exposed to vibrations/turbulence
* Exposed to loud noise levels requiring headphones while in-flight and at a moderate level when in a hospital environment
Physical Demands:
* Regularly required to reach with hands and arms; speak and hear
* Frequently required to sit for long periods of time
* Occasionally required to stand, walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and smell
* Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 150 pounds
* Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
