Overview: In this position, you will provide instruction and direct care support for program participants. Responsibilities: * Implement Individual Service Plan (ISP) objectives as written for assigned consumers. * Provide direct personal hygiene care per individual consumer needs. * Complete required documentation relating to ISPs, medical service delivery and general consumer records. * Administer medication and other medical services following established policies and procedures. * Assist in the calculation of program data and complete semi - annual progress reports. * Assist Lead Instructor or Instructor I in preparation for ISP (30 Day and Annual) Meetings, assess consumer needs, and provide specific program recommendations to the Program Coordinator. * In the absence of Lead Instructor or Instructor I, attend and participate in 30-day and annual ISP meetings. * Attend regularly scheduled in-service training. * Maintain open communication with and report any concerns to the Program Manager or the Program Coordinator immediately. * Ensure assigned workspace is clean and organized. * Work cooperatively with other STEP instructors and interagency departments, respecting the established chain of command. * Complete all required annual training. In addition, all ResCare - STEP Adult Training Services employees shall: * Know the agency policies related to fire and safety and be able to carry out emergency procedures when needed. Report any maintenance problems or safety hazards to immediate supervisor. * Know and adhere to the agency policies on Client Rights. Be able to interpret them to clients and/or family members and interact with each individual, providing dignity and respect. * Adhere to all agency policies and procedures. * Additional duties as assigned. Qualifications: * Must be at least 18 years old * Must complete health screening and TB clearance * Must have a minimum of one year experience working with the developmentally disabled * Must be able to demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills * Must be physically able to lift up to 50 pounds * Must be willing and able to drive agency vehicles for consumer transport if needed or assigned * Must receive a favorable criminal record clearance from the appropriate licensing agencies * Must have a current CPR and First Aid certification or obtain these certifications within 30 days of employment
