Responsibilities:

The Stem Cell Transplant and Cellular Therapy Transplant Nurse Insurance Coordinator manages and coordinates adult and geriatric patients through various aspects of care as it is related to stem cell transplantation and cellular therapy. The roles' primary responsibilities include obtaining insurance approvals for the stem cell transplant/cellular therapy and communication information to ensure insurance contracts are adhered to.

A day in the life of a Stem Cell Transplant and Cellular Therapy Transplant Nurse Insurance Coordinator at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

* Identifies patients that have been deemed medically eligible for stem cell transplantation/cellular therapy. 
* Performs assessment/data collection in an ongoing and systemic manner, focusing on physiologic, psychological, and cognitive status of the patient. 
* Uses the outcome-based practice model of delivery of care by demonstrating competency in clinical judgment, select technical skills, and appropriate knowledge base. 
* Implements and coordinates the care of transplant patients in a knowledgeable, skillful, consistent manner utilizing procedures, protocols, and standards of care. 
* Evaluates the effectiveness of care toward the achievement of desired outcomes. 
* Opens a Transplant/Cellular Therapy case with the Insurance Companies to initiate authorization for the Transplant/Cellular Therapy infusion on behalf of the patient. 
* Initiates contact with the patient and family member to educate regarding insurance process. 
* Serves as a liaison between the patient and insurance case management utilizing the nursing process and possessing 
* Serves as a liaison between the patient and insurance case management utilizing the nursing process and possessing a working knowledge of the medical aspect of the insurance contract. 
* Interprets and analyzes diagnostic testing in order to obtain authorization for stem cell transplant/cellular therapy. 
* Submits the appropriate clinical information to the insurance company. 
* Maintains and updates global memo contract information. 
* Coordinates admission planning with appropriate team members 
* Documents and acknowledge physician treatment plan via consult letter. 
* Analyzes patient resources and anticipates patient needs related to the transplant authorization process. 
* Other duties and/or projects as assigned. 
* Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior. 

Qualifications:

* Graduate of a NLN/AACN accredited program in nursing. 
* BSN in nursing. 
* Must have one year of relevant nursing experience.
* NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License. 
* AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.
* The ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing healthcare needs, a strong sense of accountability. 
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
* Proficient computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office and Google Suite platforms. 
* One year of experience in Stem Cell Transplant preferred 
* One year experience in Insurance Coordination preferred  
* Bone Marrow Transplant Certified Nurse preferred
