				Overview:

SWCA Environmental Consultants is expanding our team and actively looking for dynamic individuals who are following their passion in delivering the highest-quality project work. Our New Mexico/Four Corners team is looking for a self-motivated Staff Environmental Planner with attention to detail and strong communication skills. This position is a career growth opportunity to join SWCA's expanding environmental planning practice.

The role is a regular (with benefits), full-time, hourly position. This is a permanent full-time, regular position, reporting to one of SWCA's Project Managers out of the Albuquerque, New Mexico office.  Staff can work in a hybrid environment from Albuquerque.  Highly qualified, distributed employees throughout New Mexico/Four Corners will also be considered.

Responsibilities:

* Support a variety of project types including oil and gas, renewable energies, transmission, and other projects.
* Assist staff with federal and state permitting applications.
* Communicate directly with staff for pre-field preparations, project desktop analysis, and project status updates.
* Work as part of a project team to support National Environmental Policy Act document preparation and New Mexico Public Regulation Commission application efforts.
* Author resource reports and critical issues analysis reports.
* Work closely with, and be mentored by, industry leading environmental planners and permitters.

Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in environmental planning, biology, ecology, recreation, socioeconomics, rangeland management, geology, soils, environmental studies, or related field. 
* Two (2) years of relevant experience with natural resources work (e.g., environmental planning, water resources, biological resources, or land use planning) through professional experience, honors thesis or Capstone projects, or volunteer work.
* Experience writing technical documents, demonstrated ability to apply logic and execute critical thinking.
* Good organizational, oral, analytical, and document management skills.

* Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, including an ability to work on more than one project at a time.
* Demonstrated ability to perform under pressure with schedule constraints.
* Ability to gauge project workload and manage priorities.
* Willingness to learn, ask questions, have fun, and grow into increased management responsibilities.
* Strong organizational and computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point and Adobe Acrobat).
* Possess a valid driver's license and personal vehicle to travel to office, project sites and meetings.

An employee in this Albuquerque, NM-based position can expect a salary rate of $24.91/hour to 31.80/hour. Actual pay within this range may depend on experience, qualifications, geographic location, client requirements where applicable, and other factors permitted by law. Regular-status employees are also eligible for performance bonuses.
