				Overview:

AmTrust Financial Services, Inc., a fast-growing commercial insurance company, has an immediate need for an Attorney with general liability experience to join our Southern California Staff Counsel office.  The position partners with AmTrust's insureds and claims professionals to deliver the best possible result in general liabilty, construction defect and property damage lawsuits. Flexible location can be based in our Irvine office or can be remote working from your home.    

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities: 

* Independently represents the Insured before the assigned Court and presents witnesses and evidence on litigated claims. 
* Analyzes complex legal and factual issues, conducts extensive, well-reasoned legal research, independently develop and present defense strategies on behalf of the Insured. 
* Prepares pleadings, written discovery, motions and briefs in support of defense strategies. 
* Prepares for, attends and handles all activities related to full trial and/or appeals, as assigned. 
* Provides effective and timely communications, information, legal advice and other services to clients and claims professionals on legal and factual issues. 
* Position requires the use of independent judgment, research, litigation and analytical skills. 
* Assists in developing training materials and presenting seminars for the Claim Department. 
* Works with the Claim Department and Litigation Department on special projects related to the practice or line of business as needed. 
* Communicates with the Court, witnesses, opposing counsel and clients in a manner consistent with established office procedures and the Code of Professional Conduct. 
* Responsible for the prompt, efficient and effective disposition of assigned cases. 
* Keeps current with market trends and demands. Attends continuing legal education seminars in order to maintain high level of professional expertise.

Qualifications:

Required:

* JD from an ABA approved school and license to practice in California.
* General liability defense litigation experience.
* Excellent knowledge of civil procedure, rules of evidence and verbal and writing skills.
* Extensive deposition and alternative dispute resolution experience a must and trial experience preferred.
* Ability to handle cases in all the counties of Southern California.

Preferred:

*  Multi-state Bar admittance

*  Experience with Team Connect legal software and dictation.

*  Experience with the supervision and development of more junior attorneys

The salary range for this role is $130K - $175K per year. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in California. Base pay offered may vary depending on, but not limited to education, experience, skills, geographic location, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics. This range may be modified in the future.
