				Overview:

Presbyterian Healthcare Services (PHS) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our legal team as a Staff Attorney, Level I to provide in-house counsel advice and services to PHS and its affiliates. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in a variety of assigned legal projects related to litigated, regulatory and matters related to the daily operations of our integrated health care system; performing a variety of consultative or advisory work; gathering evidence and information for management decision making; preparing, reviewing and negotiating legal documents and agreements; reviewing and responding to third-party and governmental/administrative subpoenas; advising on medical staff and peer review issues; providing in the moment support for questions from direct care givers and preparing and reviewing policies and procedures related to patient care, regulatory requirements and our workforce.

Responsibilities:

* Provide legal advice and guidance to Presbyterian Healthcare Services in all aspects of its operations. 
* Provide review and feedback on legal documents. 
* Provide legal support for care units and operations across the delivery system; 
* Provide legal support to the Risk Management and Legal departments; 
* Provide education, training, and guidance in formal and informal settings on a regular basis in order to identify and mitigate legal and regulatory risk across the enterprise; 
* Provide backup coverage for other PHS attorneys and participate in the call rotation for day call and after-hours legal emergencies; 
* Triage, prepare, and respond to subpoenas and law enforcement requests; 
* Work in conjunction with hospital departments and team members in order to properly operationalize educational and business objectives; and 
* Perform other functions as required. 
* Attend or staff a variety of internal standing and task force and ad hoc teams. 
* Assist with the drafting or review of contracts and patient complaint documentation as needed.

Qualifications:

* Juris Doctor (JD) Degree from an accredited law school.
* Admission to the State Bar of New Mexico or ability to obtain admission within a short period of time.
* Minimum of 2 years of experience working as an attorney, preferably in a healthcare or litigation setting.
* Knowledge and willingness to learn federal and state laws and regulations related to healthcare.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with court personnel, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders.
* Occasional in-state travel to various PHS facilities.
