Overview:
THIS IS A TEMPORARY, SUMMER-ONLY POSITION.
The Staff Assistant I is responsible for providing excellent customer service and information to clients, visitors, volunteers, and the general public on the phone and in the office; acts as a liaison between clients and on-site staff; assists with general intake information; notifies on-site staff of visitors with scheduled appointments, as well as walk-in inquiries. Check-in patrons electronically via our membership system (PM). Lead, execute, and foster a welcoming environment.
Responsibilities:
* Answers and follows through with phone calls.
* Data entry of general intake information and assistance with general office work as needed.
* Prompts opening and closing of the reception area, including doors, phones, and computer system.
* Maintains the reception lobby and other related public areas in a clean and orderly manner, including displays of brochures and pamphlets.
* Complies with training and cross-training requirements.
* Ability to identify potentially undesirable or harmful conditions developing and take action to defuse them.
* Works with compliance with the center's confidentiality guidelines and procedures.
* Employs a welcoming, respectful, and responsive manner at all times.
* Performs related work as required.
Qualifications:
* Two (2) years of experience in administrative work is required.
* Appropriate education may be substituted for the required experience on a prorated basis.
* Working knowledge of computers: Word, Excel.
* Ability to type 30 wpm.
* Good verbal and written skills are preferred.
* Ability to work effectively in multi-cultural, multi-ethnic work environments.
* Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job.
