Responsibilities:
The Staff Accountant will support the Finance Department by preparing and analyzing financial reports, ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and assisting with month-end close activities. This role will also be responsible for multi-state sales and use tax reporting, including return preparation, filing, and remittance. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities
* Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes
* Assist with general ledger account reconciliation, bank statements, and subsidiary ledgers
* Assist with various state sales tax filing and reporting.
* Analyze financial data to identify variances & trends
* Maintain fixed asset schedules
* Ensure timely filing of sales tax returns and other compliance reporting with local/state/federal taxing authorities.
* Maintain confidentiality and integrity of financial information
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; CPA or CPA eligibility preferred.
* 3-5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably within a multi-entity or multi-state environment.
* Strong understanding of GAAP, sales and use tax compliance, and account reconciliation.
* Experience preparing and filing multi-state sales and use tax returns and remittances.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word; experience with Acumatica or similar ERP systems preferred.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
* Excellent organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
* Demonstrated initiative, accountability, and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
* Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
* Proficiency in written and spoken English.
