				Overview:

Odyssey Systems is currently looking to hire a Staff Accountant at our Corporate Headquarters in Wakefield, MA. In this role the ideal candidate will support our Accounting and Finance team preparing monthly journal entries, account reconciliations and analysis, review vendor and subcontractor invoices, review employee travel expenses, project accounting support, internal and external audit support, maintain and develop procedure documentation and other projects as deemed necessary. Work cross functionally with all departments accounting, contracts, operations and program control.

Responsibilities:

Duties include, but not limited to: 

* Monthly preparation of journal entries, general ledger account reconciliations, account analysis expense vs budget and bank reconciliations.
* Audit Accounts Payable entries for proper account and project coding.
* Audit Accounts Receivable daily cash entries prepared from bank reporting.
* Review employee travel expenses to ensure proper backup, project/account coding and travel expenses are in accordance with Odyssey and Government travel policies.
* Review subcontractor system created labor invoices, travel invoices and provide backup support for the Subcontractor Accountant function.
* Backup support for accounts payable functions.
* Review of new Accounts Payable vendor records for required payment and tax documents.
* Assist with monthly project revenue recognition review.
* Accounting support when needed to assist project accounting Program Control team.
* Maintain accounting procedure documentation for CAS compliance.
* Prepare annual vendor 1099 data.
* Support Annual Bank Exam Audit, Year End Audit and others as needed.

Qualifications:

Citizenship: Must be a US citizen

Minimum Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or Business.

Years of Experience: 3 to 5 years of experience in related accounting or finance role.

Technical Skills

* Proficient in Microsoft Office skills and experience with accounting software.
* Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, analytical skills, with demonstrated critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
* Experience with accounts payable and receivable, financial reporting and account reconciliation.

Interpersonal Skills

* Ability to work independently, prioritize work, meet daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines.
* Ability to multi-task within a fast-paced working environment.
* Ability and willingness to work in a collaborative team environment.
* Excellent organizational skills.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
