Overview:
Title: Staff Accountant II
Reports To: Lead Senior Accountant
Status: Salary
Under the direction of the Accounting Director, the Staff Accountant II will generate and interpret financial statements, apply principles of accounting to prepare financial reports and analyze financial data.
Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Maintain inventory through updating changes to inventory records, reconciling inventory discrepancies, tracking and adjusting for inventory transfers, and monitoring and analyzing slow-moving and obsolete goods.
* Support system implementations through testing
* Maintains General Ledger accounts by verifying, posting, and reconciling transactions
* Assists with financial quarter-close activities, procedures, journal entries and account reconciliations in compliance with deadlines set by leadership
* Investigates and analyzes inconsistencies in financial entries, then coordinates with other departments to gather information necessary to determine proper adjustments
* Performs analysis and calculations to ensures accuracy of allocations, accruals, prepaid expenses, and inventory
* Assists with annual financial audit, including preparation of workpapers and financial statements
* Responsible for maintenance of internal controls through policies and procedures
* Ability to identify and create best practice procedures for accounting activities by recommending and implementing process improvements
* Maintain confidentiality of conversations and documents
* Contributes to special projects, as assigned, including providing back up to other positions within the Finance Team
* Regular, timely attendance in compliance with the work schedule, and adequate notice to find a replacement for occasional absences

QUALIFICATIONS
* 3+ years of accounting experience.
* Associates degree in Accounting or Finance required; Bachelor's degree preferred
* Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
* Self-starter with high level of professionalism
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with all positions and departments
* Ability to effectively manage time and complete multiple tasks, while continually meeting critical deadlines and responding to changing priorities
* Demonstrates exceptional analytical skills, with the ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions based on accurate, timely analysis
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office products with an emphasis in Excel
* Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains preferred

* Ability to stand, walk, sit for extended periods of time
* Ability to work independently and in a team environment
* Bending, stretching, and occasional lifting is required
* Professional presence and proper phone etiquette is required
